An Over Jordan appears in the 1790 census of North Hampton Co, NC.

A River Jordan (believed to be Over) appears in the Williamson Co, TN

Tax Book in 1801.

Over River is in Georgia in 1805 where his son Eliby was born.

Over River is in IL in 1810 where his daughter Mary was born.

The 1820 Federal Census for Indiana compiled by Willard Heiss shows

Over R Gordan (misspelled (in Gibson County, page 249.

very small, neglected plot located on the south side of the Interstate

near the bridge crossing the Wabash River.

M's, 19 D's

Notes for JAMES JORDAN:

James was said to have had a brother who went on down the river

(Wabash to the Mississippi) on a pork boat that went to Louisiana.

The brother was never heard of again.  This was before the area near

Grayville, IL was serviced by train.

James' birth year determined by his age in several censuses.

Handwritten on the back of Daniel Jordan's death certificate is that

his father James and mother Dorcas were born in Indiana.  I do not

know who wrote this note.

Marj Woods told me that she personally saw James' tombstone at this

cemetery.  James W Jordan tells us that his mother Emma Walter Jordan

claimed that he was buried "up there on that mountain."

1850-1920 lists her as Mary A Frazer.  Variation of name:  Frasier,

Fraseir, Fraser, Frazer.

Per the taped interview of Emily 4-6-1979, Dorcas had a sister who marr ied a BUMP.  Emily thought Mrs Bump's son Alec and Dan JORDAN were cous ins.Per the taped interview of Emily 4-6-1979, Dorcas had a sister who

married a BUMP.  Emily thought Mrs Bump's son Alec and Dan JORDAN were

cousins.

Handwritten note on the reverse side of Daniel JORDAN's death certifica te says that Dorcas was born in Indiana.

Dorcas' death is presumed to occur between birth of her youngest son Sy lvester (1876) and the 1880 census in which she does not appear.

Daniel worked for the CCC&StL Railroad, known as the Big Four.  It is

the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St Louis system, which is now a

part of the New York Central System.

shack by the railroad.

He had a stepson named Leonard Potts.

Sylvester is shown as a brother living with Daniel and Martha Jordan

during 1900 census of White Co, IL

Thought to have been born in Posey Co, IN.
