The Streatfield family
The Streatfield family originate from Chiddingstone, Kent. Our branch is headed by Robert Streatfeild, an Iron Master and Wool Merchant born about 1514.  We do not know where he came from.  He married a daughter of Richard Rivers of Chafford  Place, Penshurst, also sister of Sir John Rivers, Lord Mayor of London 1565.
They had two sons:

Robert died in March 1559 and is buried at Chiddingstone.

Henry Streatfeild is the ancestor of the Streatfeilds of Chiddingstone manor.  He was also known as Henry of High Street House.  His only son, Richard Streatfeild, was baptised on 10th October, 1559 at Chiddingstone.  He married Ann Fremlyn.  His son Henry born 1586 and Henry's son Richard born 1611,  inherited the 'Of High Street House' title.  In turn, Richard's son Henry born in 1639, purchased the manor of Chiddingstone Cobham.  He had three brothers; Thomas of Sevenoaks, William of Hever (ancestor to the Streatfeilds of Hever and Penshurst) and John.
More details of this branch of the family can be found at http://www.chiddingstone.net/.

Our branch of the family descends from Henry's brother Richard Streatfeild born abt 1540.
I must thank Eric Perry and Lional Cole, both of whom have helped me with many details of this research.

Richard married Margery? and they had a daughter Clemence born abt 1565.  She married twice; first to William Luck and then to Richard Streatfeild of Penshurst, son of Thomas Streatfeild of Hever). Margery died in 1565, probably in childbirth.  Richard then married Elizabeth Lawndie, widow, on 26th November, 1566 at Chiddingstone.
They had the following children:

Robert died in 1654 and his wife Sarah died in 1681 and was buried on 6th June.  It appears as though the estate had already been bequeathed to the sons by Robert (although as yet we have no copy of the Letter of Administration for 1654).  Sarah, however, left her own will, in which she bequeathed all the moneys and linen etc. equally to her children and grand children, leaving a total of 220 in cash.

Richard Streatfeild born about 1642 at Penshurst was a Yeoman farmer and lived at Ford Place, Penshurst.  He married Elizabeth Carpenter, daughter of William Carpenter of Frant, Sussex, on 13th November, 1683 at St. James Church, Dukes Place, London.   They had at least  four sons:

William of Ford Place  received the bulk of his estate.   His wife Elizabeth died in 1719.

Robert Streatfield was the third son of Richard Streatfeild of Ford Place, Penshurst and Elizabeth
