Moses Allen - His Ancestors and Descendants

Moses Allen was a private in the Duchess County, New York militia in the Revolution. I joined DAR on his record. His son Peter Buell Allen fought in the War of 1812; he was a pioneer in western New York and then in Indiana in the new "Western Territories". Grandson Peter Buell Allen, Jr. was an early settler in Arkansas Territory circa 1840
At one time I believed Walter Allen found in Newbury, Massacnusetts about 1640, was his ancestor - this lineage reinforced by data in the "The Settlers of the Beekman Patent" which has proved to be in error. There were two Allen families in New England with sons Moses and Aaron and, unfortunately, Frank J. Doherty, author of the Beekman Patent series, adopted the wrong family because that Moses died as a teenager, unmarried. Instead, my Revolutionary War Moses Allen was a great, great grandson of James Allen and his wife Anna Guild, who were married in Dedham, Suffolk County, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 16 March 1638. I have written a blog which explains in detail the difference in these two families - the link can be found below.
