6. John DODSON¹⁸ died in 1784 in Shenandoah County, Virginia.¹⁹

In 1737, Charles and Moses, sons of John, were put in the care of the Church wardens of North Farnham Parish - no indication of the reason behind this action. The family probably left Ricmond soon after because daughter Elizabeth was baptized in old Augusta Co VA in 1741.

In Nov of 1756, John patented 260 acres in Frederick Co VA [Northern Neck Grants, Fairfax tract]. This tract was sold described as in Frederick, the part formerly Augusta, to Abraham Derst/Darst. In Sep of 1756 John had patented another 400 acres in August Co which is likely the land later willed to his son Peter.

Will dated 16 Nov 1779, Recorded 26 Aug 1784 [Shenandoah Co WB B, p.107] Names wife Elizabeth; Sons Peter and Charles; daughters Elizabeth married to John Coile/Kyle and Ann married to Michael Callendar.

John DODSON and Elizabeth GOAD were married about 1724 in Richmond County, Virginia.¹⁸ Elizabeth GOAD, daughter of Abraham GOAD and Catherine WILLIAMS, was born (date unknown).

John DODSON and Elizabeth GOAD had the following children:

26	i.	Martha Ann DODSON²⁰ was born on 7 November 1725 in Richmond County, Virginia.²¹ Married Michael Callendar, probably in Augusta or Frederick Co VA. In his will, her father referred to her as "daughter Ann married to Michael Callendar".
27	ii.	Charles DODSON was born on 28 August 1726 in Richmond County, Virginia.²¹ Charles and his brother John were bound out by the Churchwardens of North Farnham when Charles was about age 11. There is a will in Richmond Co, VA that could be his since this area was part of North Farnham. Dated 19 Aug 1772, proved 4 Sep 1775 Sons Charles and Solomon, Daughter Margaret (Ellett). Wife Mary. Executors: wife and Thomas Howard Wit: Thaddeus Jackson, William Fleming, Rodham Pritchett.
28	iii.	Moses DODSON was born on 12 January 1729 in Richmond County, Virginia.²¹
29	iv.	John DODSON was born on 12 August 1731 in Richmond County, Virginia.²¹ He died on 27 May 1734 at the age of 2 in Richmond County, Virginia.²¹ John Dodson Junr died 27 May 1734.
30	v.	Peter DODSON was born on 22 May 1735 in Richmond County, Virginia.¹³ He died in September 1800 at the age of 65 in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Peter's wife was Mary. When he wrote his will 4 Sep 1800, he had minor children so it's likely he was married twice, or married late in life.
31	vi.	Elizabeth DODSON²² was born (date unknown). Elizabeth was apparently born after the family left Richmond Co. She was baptized in Augusta Co VA in 1741 by Rev. John Craig, a Presbyterian minister of the old August Stone Church. Her father's will referred to her as "daughter Elizabeth married to John Coile".
