Samuel DODSON and Rebecca GARDNER were married on 16 June 1816 in Jasper County, Georgia. Rebecca GARDNER was born on 10 March 1795. She died on 4 January 1872 at the age of 76 in Summerville, Chattooga County, Georgia. Rebecca's father was Christopher Gardner, and Irishman born 1754, and came to America as a boy. Christopher served under Washington and was wounded at Brandwine, moving to Georgia after the Revolution. His first wife died leaving a daughter who married Richard Saye. Rebecca's mother was Sarah Simmons. She had three brothers - Asa, John & Thomas. Asa moved to Mississippi, as did John. Thomas left a family living near Atlanta. Sarah also had 7 or 8 sisters and a half-sister, Margaret, who married Richard Saye. Samuel DODSON and Rebecca GARDNER had the following children: |
