Home Surname List Name Index Sources Email Us | Descendants of Laughlin Flinn of Kent County, MarylandFor this reason I begin with the earliest Laughlin Flinn of Maryland. There is good reason to believe that this family that migrated from Maryland to Lunenburg, Virginia, and on to Surry Co, North Carolina is mine, both because of their migration pattern and their insistence on using Laughlin as a given name for sons. The family was surely part of the group of Scots Irish immigrants that came to America over a 100-year period beginning circa 1640. Many settled in the area around Philadelphia and Baltimore before spreading to points West and South. The surname is found as Flinn as often as it is Flynn, but the "y" spelling is the one handed down in my family line.
