The Will of Col. Barnaby McKinnie and the burden his entailed property placed on his heirs is intriguing to say the least. I cannot yet prove that James Holderness was a brother to my husband's ancestor William Holderness but while searching for this link I found all this family of James' first wife Patience McKinnie Sherrod Holderness. The majority of the proof contained herein has come from the deeds of Colonial Chowan, Bertie, Edgecombe and Halifax Counties in North Carolina. I'm happy to share with you.
