Haughton Family of NorthWest Ohio

HAUGHTON Family
of
NorthWest Ohio

HISTORY

The HAUGHTON family originally lived in Rensselaer County, New York. Reportably, they moved to Romeo, Michigan where their McGregor relatives had settled. The daughters of Sampson Haughton decided to continue living in New York state rather than move West. The sons then decided to head on to Toledo where Stephen and Lyman's wives had an uncle. Stephen's wife and Lyman's first wife were sisters, Mary Susan and Huldah SMITH. Sampson and Mary (McGREGOR) HAUGHTON both died in New York state in 1845 and 1825 respectively. Most of the sons settled in Washington Township, Lucas County, Ohio and farmed.
