Still snowing. Turned-off our jiney cook for not washing in the morning and mixing bread with cold ice water.

December 29, 1863.
Got another cook, half indian, big as a side of a house.

December 30, 1863.
Still snowing.

December 31, 1863.
New Years, the boys drunk and raising the devil among the negroes.

This is the last day of 1863 and the war is still going on yet. It is hard for us to tell what 1864 will bring forth, but I

hope that it will bring forth an honorable end so the soldier that is now upon the field may put the next New Years in at home, but by that time there will be thousands of us in our graves but we all hope we may get home safe.

Whoever hands this book may fall into I would request of them to send it home to father, post office address Enoch Sears, North Salem, Guernsey Co. Ohio.

The End.
