80th OHIO VOLUNTEER INFANTRY

OBITUARY NOTICES

ANOTHER OLD VETERAN DIES SUNDAY
APRIL 30, 1922

The death of Isaac Robinson, Newcomerstown veteran of the Civil War, removes the last surviving member of the 80th O. V. I. living in this vicinity. Capt. O. C. Powelson, residing in New Philadelphia is the only surviving line officer of the regiment.

Isaac Robinson was a son of Thos. and Elizabeth Robinson and was about 85 years of age at the time of his death. He has lived in this vicinity practically his entire life. During the Civil War, Isaac and three brothers answered the call to the colors.

He was united in marriage in November 1868 to Hulda Worth, who bore him six children. The wife and two children preceded him to the grave. The surviving children are, Mrs. Mittie Ulrich of Massillon, Mrs. Lilliie Hudson of Dover, Mrs. Trudie Stewart of New Philadelphia and Alice Robinson at home (My Great Grandmother). He also leaves one brother Henry Robinson of Uhrichsville, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He died Sunday, April 30, following an extended illness which was practically painless and appeared to be nothing more than simply wearing out.

About three years ago, feeling that he hadn't much longer to live, Mr. Robinson made complete arrangements for his burial. He first called on Undertaker J. W. Jones, picked out and paid for a handsome oak casket, later selected six old comrades for pall bearers requesting that "Marching Through Georgia" be sung at the funeral and that the late Hon. John T. Duff preach the discourse.

His requests, so far as possible, will be carried out at the funeral which will be held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at the home on Park Hill road. On account of the death of nearly all the old comrades named, Sons of the Veterans will act as pall bearers, and the services will be conducted by Rev. M. L. Oliver.
