Jacob Hochstetler, Bernville, PA at death, was born in 1704 d. shortly before Feb, 1776, and came to America landing at Philadelphia, PA, Sept 1, 1736, on the ship Harle. All that is known of his life is given in the Historical Introduction. His wife was probably Miss Lorentz, and d. Sept 20-1 1757. Amish Mennonite church. John 2, d. John Hochstetler, (1) Elklick, PA at death, according, was about three years of age when he came to this country with his father. His will was dated Mar. 15, 1805, and was registered Apr 15, 1805. He moved from Berks to Somerset Co. About Dec, 1784. He m. (1) Catherine Hertzler, who. d. after 1797, the dau. of Jacob Hertzler, Amish church and there is some reason for believing he was a minister in that church. Jacob Hochstetler, 2, Meyresdale, PA at death, was b. about 1752, near Hamburg PA. There is no record of any will, nor did his estate pass through court. May 17, 1813, he sold two farms to his son John and it si likely that he did not live long after. He appears on the tax list of Brothers Valley Tp. in what is now Somerset Co. PA, in 1779. He m. Aug 19, 1773, near hamburg, Berks co. Pa., d. Dec 1846, and m. (1) Barbara Schrock, of fam 674. note. He resided on the farm owned later by christian Yoder, a mile southwest of Summit Mills, Pa. He moved to near Farmerstown, Ohio, about 1832. Deacon in Amish church. The dates of virth of his children are taken from his business ledger, now in possession of his grand son, Noah W.
