GOLDIE WELLS
Mrs. Goldie Wells 56, a lifelong resident of Van Lear, died
Thursday in a local hospital following an illness of three weeks.
Born on August 12, 1900, in Johnson County, she was the daughter
of the late Hirman and Emma Meeks Butcher.
Surviving are her husband, Brownlow Wells Sr., six sons, Brownlow
Wells Jr., U.S. Navy, London, England; Sebert Wells, Fulton,
Ohio; Andrew J. Wells, Cleveland, Ohio; Woodridge Wells, Auxier;
Jack Wells, U.S. Army, Fort Knox, Ky.; and Darvin Wells, U.S.
Army, Germany; and three daughters, Mrs. Bufford DeLong,
Cleveland, Ohio; Willa Dean Wells, Van Lear; and Sola Wells, Van
Lear. Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Sara Setser,
Auxier; Mrs. Rusha Fraley, Auxier; and Mrs. Virgie Combs, Wabash,
Indiana; and three brothers, Lewis Butcher, Wabash, Indiana;
Willie Butcher, Van Lear; and Ashley Butcher, Van Lear.
Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the home with
the Rev. S.C. Honeycutt officiating. Music was by the Tom's Creek
Singers.
Burial was made in the family cemetery at Van Lear, under the
direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
NOTE: This cemetery is also known as the "BROWN-WELLS CEMETERY"
and is located in Peavine Hollow Van Lear,Ky.
