A few days ago I received a note from Ken Mullins indicating your interest in the Hannah Noe-Phelps Read connection.

There are several sites on the net which mention that Hannah Noe was married to Felps Read. I think one of the better explanations is noted in the "Peter Noe and his Noe-Noey-Noah Descendants" book, by Virginia Scribner Rowland. The following is a selected extract:

"Hannah Noe was born 22 Jul 1773 according to a record made by Felps Read in Grainger County, TN, deed book A, page 51. Hannah married Felps Read 10 Mar 1791. --------- Hannah and Felps marriage date and birth dates of their children are also listed in the above record. --------- It is unknown where Hannah and Felps marriage took place. --------- I think --- (they) --- were married in North Carolina. By 1792 they were living along the road from Knoxville, TN to Abington, VA, just east of what is now Morristown, TN."

I hope this might be at least a partial answer to your question.

I am also a descendant of Phelps Reed/Felps Read.
