JOSEPH GOSTWICK
Our first Gostwick ancestor to America.
Joseph Gostwick was born ca. 1653 England and came
to Baltimore Co. Maryland from Shropshire, England in 1677 at the age of
24. He died March 3, 1728 Baltimore Co. Maryland
leaving
a Will.

page 1 and page 2)
Joseph Gostwick
(m) lst. Mary Corbin (dau
of Nicholas & Elizabeth (Kemp) Corbin
(m) 2nd: Elizabeth (?)
Only two son's mentioned in Will
1. Thomas
Gostwick b.ca. 1694 (mentioned in g-father Nicholas Corbins will)
2. Nicholas Gostwick
b.ca.
1697
England records have been checked in just about every County of England and to this year 1999 I have not found who Joseph Gostwick's parents were. It is my theory only since he named his first son "Thomas" that his own father in England may have been named "Thomas". Joseph named the 2nd son "Nicholas" after his father-in-law "Nicholas Corbin".
There is a Thomas Gostwicke b.ca.1623 Eng. (m) Oct.16,1647 at Clerkenwall,St.James London "Elizabeth Dorislas" .
This Thomas Gostwicke could be the father of our Joseph Gostwick b.1653, but seems England records say that all 3 children of Thomas and Elizabeth (Dorislas) Gostwick died young.????
Hertford Co.England.
Thomas Gostwicke christened
Jul.03,1621 Graveley, Hertford Co. (son of Edward)
In Devon Co.England there is:
Thomas Gostwicke/Gosticke/Gostwick and wife Susanna (?) with children christened at Topsham, Devon Co.Eng.
1. Roger Gostwicke c. Jul.25,1633 Topsham, Devon Co.Eng.
(son of Thomas and Susanna)
2. Daniel Gosticke c. Mar.16,1636 Topsham,Devon Co.Eng.(son
of Thomas and Susanna)
3. Thomas Gosticke c. Jul.07,1638 Topsham, Devon Co.Eng.(son
of Thomas and Susanna)
4. Robert Gostwick c. Sep.16,1639 Topsham, Devon Co.Eng.
(son of Thomas and Susanna)
Thomas Gosticke b. 1638 would be only 15 years of age
in 1653 so he has been ruled out as being the father of our Joseph Gostwick
b.1653.
