A drawing for a 500-pound calf held at Brown's Service Station last Saturday, Dec. 23, which was won by Guy Cosby of Jenks, put the final touch of victory to the area-wide drive to show a measure of appreciation to the Jenks football team, their coaches and managers for a wonderful football season this fall.
Tickets to the Texas University-Mississippi game were presented by local merchants and the Alumni Association to Coach Clifford Rogers Thursday, December 21 at a special assembly held in the High School auditorium.
A chartered bus will arrive at Ted Marion's Restaurant at 5:45 a.m. Monday, New Year's Day and is scheduled to leave at 6 a.m. for the Dallas Cotton Bowl.
A large group of Trojan fans are expected to be on hand even at this early hour to wish the boys a good trip.
Somewhere among them, the spirit of Lynn Gibson, one of the most steadfast Trojan boosters the town has ever known and who passed away a year ago on New Year's Day, is sure to be present.
The bus will arrive in Dallas around noon when the boys will eat lunch and head for the Cotton Bowl and an afternoon of watching somebody else play football for a change, after which they will start home to Jenks.
