"IN OBSERVANCE OF BIRTHDAY CATHEY HONORED"

A surprise birthday dinner was held January 19 for James J. Cathey's 90th birthday at the Drumright Community Center.

Jim and Fenton Cathey were really surprised when they walked into the center and saw 48 of their relatives there, including his two daughters Lorene Tempone from Santa Rosa, Calif. and Edna Lemons and her husband Willard from Alburquerque, N.M.

Seven grandchildren were present. Sharon Kerchee and husband Ray from Harrah, Ok.; Jimmy Cummings and wife Sherry of Weatherford, Ok.; Ron Cummings and wife Jennifer of Spring, Texas; Norma Acree of Broken Arrow; Herbert Cathey and wife Colister of Cushing; Hope Lau and husband Robert of Cushing and Sandra Eagleshield and husband Dick of Oklahoma City.

Thirteen great-grandchildren were present. Jeff Baskin of Edmond; Branden Cummings of Sand Springs; Jennifer Cummings of Drumright; James and Joshua Cummings of Weatherford; Jenell and Javada Cummings of Spring, Texas; Mollie Cathey of Cushing; Sara and Abe Acree of Broken Arrow; April and Jeremy Lau of Cushing and Teresa Sweeden of Oklahoma City.

Others present included Jim's sister-in-law Leona Gobble from Muenster, Texas and her son and daughter-in-law Pat and Garnet Cathey from Antelope, Texas. Nephews and their wives included Leonard and Lucille Phoenix and LeeRoy and Mittie Phoenix from Houston, Texas.

Fenton's daughter Margaret Mutz from Oklahoma City and her son Rocky and his wife Fran and their son Shane were present.

About 35 senior citizens and others from Drumright came by about 3 p.m. to honor Cathey.
