CLAY MORROW

"'THE LOCATOR' VISITS MORROW'S"
By Lisa Mancuso

From "The Mannford Eagle," Mannford, Oklahoma, July 1, 1987

Charis Lloyd, sales manager of "The Locator," based in Whiting, Iowa visited Clay Morrow, of Morrow's Auto Recyclers, last week and the Mannford Eagle was on the spot.

"The Locator," a monthly magazine publication that features thousands of used auto and truck replacements parts from the Nation's leading salvage yards, also covers foreign cars, domestic cars, collector cars, in addition to pickups and trucks.

It also publishes a Lister's Directory covering all states.

Morrow gave Lloyd a tour of the new facility he's currently building and also the "one he grew out of." Morrow grew out of the old one when the Oklahoma economy bottomed out and began renovating the building next door which housed the grocery store after the May 10, 1986 fire that destroyed it.

The new facility has 2,100 square feet and will have a wash bay, a new and used auto parts store, a full-bath, and a larger office.

"It's almost like starting another salvage yard all over again," said Clay. The warehouse will have 1,900 square feet of space.

Morrow admitted he went rather "nuts" with the pegboard.

"I like to hang things up," he said.

Morrow has also done a good amount of swapping and trading out when it came to putting the new facility together and wanted to extend sincere thank-yous to all those who have helped.

"The Lord has really been good to us," the Morrows said.

The building itself is a very energy efficient one and a special paint has been ordered to go on the outside of the building to keep the airflow going.

For 30 years, the Morrow's have had parrots and this has been their trademark. Clay and his wife, Mary, announced that they will be getting another parrot soon, from Dr. Gary Lasarsky of the Mannford Animal Clinic in Woodcrest Plaza.

Morrow's Auto Recyclers, located at 22121 West 41st Street, or the Coyote Trail Area, was started in 1965 by the late Ray L. Morrow, husband of Thelma and father of Clay. Mrs. Morrow has remained active and is currently vice-chairman of the Oklahoma Wreckers Association.

The grocery store was started in 1961 and is the site of the new facility.

Morrow's can be reached by calling 363-8333.
