FOR BERTIE HUFFMAN "BIRTHDAY IS CELEBRATED"

Mrs. Bertie Huffman, 207 S. Jones, Drumright, was honored on April 22 in observance of her 88th birthday.

The day long events were planned by her daughter Roberta Keith of Vinita, Okla.

The day began by attending services at the First Christian Church with her immediate family and house guests. The guests included her daughter, Mrs. Roberta Keith of Vinita, Ok.; sons Hobert Heffington of Duncan, Okla. and Howard Heffington and wife Martha of Drumright; Mrs. Ida Denyer of Edmond, OK. and Rosie Carter of Duncan, Ok.

As the honoree put in her birthday coins the church congregation sang "Happy Birthday" to her.

Following church a lunch was served in her home to those already mentioned and Don and Barbara Heffington grandson and wife, Donny Heffington great-grandson, all of Broken Arrow. Also great-granddaughter and husband Carole and Rodney Goddard of Tulsa and son-in-law Jerry Keith of Vinita. Don Heffington and family were unable to attend the get together which followed.

At the Community Center a reception was held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Myrna Monkres, granddaughter of Tulsa, baked a tiered birthday cake done in pink and white with flowers on the top and the inscription around the cake "Happy Birthday Na-Naw Bertie." Serving the punch was great-grandson Mark Monkres of Tulsa and her great-granddaughter Cynthia Brownlee of Oklahoma City served the cake.

Mrs. Ida Denyer presided at the guest book.

Those attending, other than those already mentioned, from out of town were, Terry Monkres, grand son-in-law and Timothy Monkres, great-grandson of Tulsa and Craig Brownlee, great-grandson-in-law of Oklahoma City. Also Helen Baker of Sacramento, Calif., Mary Starr of Cushing, Ok and Annabell Farmer of Okmulgee, Ok and Lindsey and Denae Nickles of Tulsa.

Drumright guests included Mr. and Mrs. Mike Dumler, Ida Busharr, Ruth Busharr, Cuba Renfro, Etta Varner, Helen Jones, Weldon Jones, Jayne Agnew, Elmer and Rosemary Holder, Heaven Arnold, Mozelle and Steve Stephens, Wayne and Kathryn Ingram, Wanda and Gowan McQuillen, Thelma Cargill, Mrs. Dan Ard, Richard Ard, Bill and Alma Wilson, Bob, Linda, J.R. and Tricia Foster, Orville and Billie Linduff, Wilma Allard, Hazel Goddard, Arthur and Alma Hudson, Nellie Culp, Rocky and Dee Anne, Jessica and Tara Stanley, Cleo and Corky Hutchison, Eunice McIlwain, Juliene DeBakey and Rosa DeBakey.

Following the reception all of the family and house guests returned to the honoree's home where they had a buffet supper prepared by Roberta Keith and assisted by Rosie Carter.

Those of the family who were unable to attend were two granddaughters Vicki and Tom Kirchner of Fort Collins, Colorado and Brenda and Bob Ortiz of Watonga, Ok. and her sister Golda Ramey of Seattle, Washington.

She received many flowers, gifts, phone calls and cards.
