"Ramblin Fever" by Ellie Hopper
Monday morning I lost a near and dear friend, Wilma Mills. It was such a shock, and it just didn't seem real!
I owe that lady so much!
She and I had such fun together and sure did some silly things, but loved every minute of it.
It is because of her that I am sitting in the editor's chair here in the Drumright office of the News Journal. She gave me a good pep talk and I found the courage to tackle the position.
I think secretly I wanted to follow in her foot steps. But, this is the only way I can. She was such a person and I know I will never match up to her.
She has done so much for the people of Drumright. She was never too tired to volunteer to help in any task for anybody.
Speaking for me, she is gone but not forgotten. And I have so many beautiful memories of the great lady that no one will ever be able to take away. Good bye, sweet princess.

"Oak Grove News" by Helen Linduff
I appreciated the poem that the family of Wilma Mills had printed in last weeks paper as a message they felt that Wilma would share with each of us who knew her.
The first two lines of the poem were: "Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there I do not sleep."
My last conversation with Wilma was eight days prior to her death. We were both visiting a mutual friend who had lost a sister, that was to be buried the following day. Therefore, death and funeral services were a part of the conversation that day. And as I read the poem printed last week I thought of some of the remarks that Wilma made that day.
She said, "When I die, I sure don't want a sad funeral." You could tell by her conversation that she knew where she planned to go.
Wilma Mills didn't die, she just moved to a better place. And she left many good deeds and fond memories for those left here to knew her.

Your gentle face and patient smile
With sadness we recall
You had a kindly word for each
And died beloved by all.
The voice is mute and stilled the heart
That loved us well and true
Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you.
You are not forgotten Loved one
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore,
As time goes by we miss you more
Your loving smile, your gentle face
No one can fill your vacant place.
