Funeral services for Ed Vaden, 51, Route 4, Cushing, were held at 2 p.m. January 23, 1987, in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Christensen and the Rev. Terry Mott officiating. Burial was conducted in the Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of the Hackler Funeral Home.
A native of Oklahoma, Vaden was born February 21, 1935, in Drumright, the son of the late Frank and Myrtle Inez (Damron) Vaden. He was reared and received his education in Drumright, graduating with the senior class of 1954.
He and the former Donita Harmon were married September 2, 1955, in Cushing and they continued to make their home in Cushing since.
Vaden's work career included nine years in the Cushing Power Plant, 14 years in the automobile service stations of the Cushing community and a brief period with Cushing Coca Cola Plant. In 1981 he formed Vaden and Son Ditching Company which he had continued to be an active part.
Vaden died January 20 following an apparent heart attack. He was a member of the Cushing Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Donita of the home and children, son Bill Vaden of Cushing and daughter Lori Burns.

Funeral services for Mrs. Inez Vaden, 75, 1230 E. Maple, Cushing, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 1985 in the Memory Chapel of the Fairley-Hackler Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Matthews as the officiant.
Special music was provided by the pre-recorded sacred music "Nearer My God To Thee" and "How Great Thou Art."
Those serving as casketbearers were: Cecil Thornhill, Fred Wilson, Jim Davis, Bob Vassar, J. C. Knoch, and Dave Clark.
Interment under the direction of the Fairley-Hackler Funeral Home was conducted in the Oak Dale Cemetery.
A native of New Mexico, Mrs. Vaden was born September 20, 1909 at Quay, the daughter of the late Edward and Lula (Epps) Damron. She came to Oklahoma at the age of 4 years, settling with her family at Hinton. Mrs. Vaden graduated from the Blackwood Davis Institute of Business in Oklahoma City. In 1930, Mrs. Vaden came to Drumright where she was united in marriage to Frank Vaden on August 12, 1932. Mrs. Vaden moved to Cushing in 1958 where she had continued to reside. She had been employed with the NAPA Store as a bookkeeper and later with the Cushing Regional Hospital. In June 1976, Mrs. Vaden was preceded in death by her husband, Frank. Mrs. Vaden died at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26 in the Rest Haven Nursing Home.
Those whom survive include a son, Mr. Ed Vaden of Route 4, Cushing; a brother, Mr. Aaron Damron of Roff, Oklahoma; a sister, Mrs. George (Iona) Murrary, Hinton, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Mrs. Ted (Lori) Burns and Mrs. Bill Vaden, both of Cushing; 2 great granechildren and several nieces and nephews.

Willie VanMeter died at Bristow Hospital. His funeral was held last Tuesday at Hutchison Funeral Home in Bristow.
He was buried in Mannford Cemetery. Willie's father homesteaded their home near the substation about 65 years ago. He has lived nearby all his life around the substation, Olive and Bristow area. He leaves many relatives and friends.

Services will be held for Everett William Varnell of Woodward, Ok., at the Friendship Community Church west of Mannford at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 1987 with the Reverends Maynard Gene Varnell and Gene Varnell officiating. Interment will be at the Oakhill Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland.
Everett Varnell passed away in Woodward, Okla. on September 7, 1987 at the age of 93 years. He was born on April 5, 1894 to William and Mary Ardella (Walls) Varnell in Missouri. In 1913 he married Gracie May Stottlemyre in Houston, Missouri. He was a retired feed mill elevator operator. He had been married to Grace for 74 years, and had been a Christian for 61 years.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, of the home; three sons: Carl, of Enid, Ok., Virgie of Blackwell, Ok., and Maynard Gene of Woodward, Ok.; three daughters, Mabel Howell of Enid, Mildred Butts of Cabool, Missouri, and Opal May Owens of Wichita, Ks.; and three brothers, Earl Varnell of Sand Springs; and Jack & Floyd Varnell of Mannford. 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four infant children, and three brothers.

Everett William Varnell, a resident of Woodward, Okla. passed away on Monday, September 7, in Woodward.
Mr. Varnell was born on April 5, 1894 in Missouri to William and Mary Ardella Walls Varnell. He married Gracie Mae Stottlemyer in 1913. They were married for 74 years.
Mr. Varnell is survived by his wife, Gracie, of the home; six children, Mabel Howell, of Summersville, Mo.; Mildred Butts, Cabool, Mo.; Opal Mae Owens, Wichita, Kansas; Manard Gene Varnell, Woodward, Ok.; Carl Varnell, Enid, Okla.; and Virgil Varnell, Blackwell, Okla.; three brothers, Earl of Sand Springs, Okla.; and Jack and Floyd, both of Mannford, Okla.; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mr. Varnell, a Christian for 61 years, was preceded in death by his parents, four infant children, and three brothers.
Services were held on Thursday, September 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the Friendship Community Church with the Rev. Manard Gene Varnell and the Rev. Eugene Varnell officiating.
Interment was in Oakhill Cemetery in Mannford with the Chapman-Black Funeral Home of Cleveland in charge of the arrangements.
He was a retired elevator operator in a feed mill.
Gerald O. Varnell passed away at the age of 63 after a short illness in the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital of Tulsa on Wed., Feb. 19, 1986.
Born on June 8, 1922, at Mannford, OK. Son of Jesse and Naomi Misner Varnell.
Married to former Beulah Mae Carter April 4, 1941. Former Pastor of Free Holiness Church of Oilton, Oklahoma for 22 years. Former Pastor of Calvary Temple Church of Henryetta, OK for four years, and a former evangelist. He was a member of Jennings Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife Beulah of Mannford, children Gerald Lee, Johnstown, CO., Teddy L., Stillwater, Bill of Sand Springs, Janet Dickey, Henryetta, OK. Darrell R. of Stillwater, Debbie Thurman of Stillwater, Marlene Parton, Mannford, LuFonda Varnell of Stillwater. Twenty grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Varnell, Mannford. Surviving brothers Mansel, Fred, Kenneth and Hershel. Sisters include Julia Dodd, Beulah McDowell, Verla Jones, Norma Hart, Geneva Wilson, Leitha Veanalbe, Oneta Lewis.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home, 211 E. Bdwy., Sand Springs, OK. Services will held in the First Baptist Church, 105 Greenwood, Mannford, Oklahoma on Saturday February 22, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. Officiated by Rev. J. W. Wright. Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery, Mannford, OK.

Gerald O. Varnell, 63, native of Mannford and long time evangelist, was given funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 22, in the Mannford First Baptist Church. The Rev. J. W. Wright officiated.
Burial, under direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Home, was in Mannford's Oakhill Cemetery.
Born June 8, 1922 in Mannford to Jesse "Jack" and Naomi Misner Varnell, he grew up in this vicinity and spent the majority of his life in this area.
On April 4, 1941, he and the former Beulah Mae Carter were married. They became the parents of four sons and four daughters.
He and his wife helped build the Free Holiness Church of Oilton where he pastored 23 years. He also served as pastor of the Calvary Temple Church in Henryetta four years. Mr. Varnell was a member of the Jennings Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah, of the home in Mannford; sons, Gerald Lee Varnell of Johnstown, Colo.; Teddy L. Varnell of Stillwater, Bill Varnell of Sand Springs and Darrell R. Varnell of Stillwater. Daughters are Janet Dickey of Henryetta, Debbie Thurman of Stillwater, Marlene Parton of Mannford and LuFonda Varnell of Stillwater, 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse "Jack" Varnell of Mannford; four brothers, Mansel, Fred, Kenneth and Hershel Varnell; and seven sisters, Julia Dodd, Beulah McDowell, Verla Jones, Norma Hart, Geneva Wilson, Leitha Venable and Oneta Lewis.
Jesse (Jack) Varnell, born January 11, 1897 in Bado, Missouri, died January 23, 1988 at his home in Mannford.
Jack married Naomi Misner on August 22, 1920 in Sand Springs, Ok. From this union are twelve children: Julia Dodd of Mannford; Beulah McDowel of Cushing; Verla Jones of Seattle, Wash.; Norma Hart of Sheldon, Mo.; Geneva Wilson of Sapulpa; Leitha Belmer of Sand Springs; Oneta Lewis of Tulsa; Mansel of Mannford, Freddy of Sapulpa; Kenneth of Kansas; and Hershel Varnell of Mannford.
One son, Gerald, three grandchildren and his father and mother - William & Mary Varnell, preceded him in death.

Jesse Jack Varnell was born on January 1, 1897 in Texas County (Bado), Missouri to William Marshall and Mary Ardella Varnell.
He passed away from this life on January 23, 1988 at age 91 years and 12 days, in his home in Mannford, Oklahoma.
He was a veteran of World War I, entering the service in August of 1918, in Tulsa, Okla. He served in France and remained there six months after the war ended. He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1919. While a young boy, he was nicknamed "Jack" and because of his jolliness, was called "Happy," while serving in the Army Infantry. He has always been friendly and few people knew his name was actually Jesse.
On August 22, 1920 in Sand Springs, Okla. he married Naomi Misner. To this union were born 12 children. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, one son, Gerald Varnell, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and six brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi, of the home; six sons, Mansel and Hershel of Mannford; Fred of Sapulpa; and Kenneth from Kansas; Floyd of Mannford and Earl of Sand Springs; seven daughters, Julia Dodd, of Mannford; Beula McDorvell of Cushing; Verla James, of Seattle, Wash., Norma Hart of Sheldon, Mo.; Geneva Wilson of Sapulpa; Leitha Balmer, Sand Springs, and Oneta Lewis of Tulsa; 38 grandchildren, and 45 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Because of his thoughtfullness and kindness, and his willingness to help others, he will always be remembered for his many good deeds.
Joe Varnell, the son of the late William Marshall and Mary Andella Varnell, was born July 7th, 1898 at Baddo, Missouri. He died Tuesday, April 17th, 1984, at the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He had been an area resident since 1915. He was a retired Security Guard for Pan-American Oil Co. He was a member of the Protestant church.
He was preceeded in death by his wife several years ago. Left to survive are daughters, Jewell Ledbetter, Nadine Varnell, Loetta Collins and Joyce Cherry, all of Sand Springs; Rita Jo Stretch, of Bristow and Nancy Finney of Biloxi, Mississippi.
Sons that survive are John, d and Larry Varnell all of Tulsa. Surviving brothers are Everett and Earl Varnell of Sand Springs. Jack and Floyd Varnell of Mannford.
Twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 20th, 1984, at the Ray of Light Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma with Rev. Gene Varnell officiating.
He was laid to rest by his wife at Woodland Cemetery, Sand Springs, Oklahoma under the direction of the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Harold G. Varner
Harold G. Varner, age 77, 119 Aspen in Mannford, passed away May 1, 1985 in Mannford. He was born April 18, 1908 in Buthrie Center, Iowa. He was married to Clara Vanderhart on February 22, 1931 in Newton, Iowa. He was a member of Lakeside Christian in Mannford.
He is a retired Payroll-Timekeeper for Maytag, Co.
He is survived by two daughters: Vivian Nellana, Indian Wells, Calif. and Phillis Shober, Palm Dal, Calif.; two sons: Robert Verner, Ida Grove, Iowa and F. Gary Varner, Mannford; three sisters: Thelma Martin and Eula Varner both of Des Moines, Iowa, and Genevie Larrison, Newton, Iowa; two brothers: Dean Varner, Fort Meyers, Fla. and Lyle Varner, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services was held at the Lakeside Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 1985. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Mannford, Oklahoma. Robert W. Hough officiated.

Funeral services were held November 3, 1986, at 2 p.m. in the Assembly of God Church, Drumright, for Robert L. Vaughn who died on November 1 at the Drumright Memorial Hospital, he was 78.
Vaughn was born December 6, 1907, at Bakoshie, Oklahoma, and had lived in this community since moving here from Bristow in 1952. He had retired from the Kerr-McGee Oil Company. Vaughn and his wife, Edna, were united in marriage on November 14, 1931, at Nuyaka, Ok.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, of the home; children J.D. Vaughn of Claremore and June Florence of Bristow; sister Opal Warnock, Drumright; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Officiating at his service was Marvin Boyles with music provided by the Lights of Christ. Serving as pallbearers were R.J. and Ray Drake, Roger White, Eddie Edwards, Glenn Flatt and Delton James.
Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Don Smith Funeral Home.
Roscoe H. Vaughan, 68, Route 2, Cushing, died August 2, 1986, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born April 10, 1918, near Cleveland, Ok., to William N. and Eva Mae Vaughan. One sister preceded him in death.
He completed high school in 1940 at Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II as a PFC in the Field Artillery. On his return from service he went to work for the Kerr-McGee Oil Company until his retirement in 1971.
He was married to the former Beulah Dowd at Jennings, Ok., on December 18, 1949. They are members of the Broadway Church of Christ.
Survivors include Beulah of the home; son Roscoe Dale Vaughan of Sand Springs; daughters Cheryl Roberts of Olathe, Kansas, and Sharron Self of Independence, Missouri; three grandchildren; brothers Virgil of Cleveland, Warren of Tulsa and John Vaughan of Ft. Meyers, Fla. and sisters Elsie Dobson of Cleveland, Marie Widel of Blackwater, Missouri and Norma Berger of Sand Springs.
Funeral services were held at the Broadway Church of Christ at 10 a.m., August 5 with Frank Williams officiating.
Pall bearers were Harold Nichols, Gene Barnes, Arthur Ford, LeRoy Williams, George Cole and Ronnie Vaughan.
Interment was in the Woodland Cemetery at Cleveland under the direction of the Bailes Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 10, 1985 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Drumright for Rose B. Venable. Mrs. Venable died Sunday December 8, 1985 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, after a long illness.
Rose Venable was born March 6, 1903 in Blueridge, Texas and had lived in Durant and Seminole most of her life. Mrs. Venable had made her home in Tulsa, prior to moving to Drumright. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Drumright.
Officiating at her service was Chris Tecmire, Pastor of the First Baptist Church. Serving as organist was Wilma Mills. Vocalists were Thelma Black and Jeff Hunter. Serving as pallbearers were John Brown, Virgil Cooper, Bob McClain, James Cooper, Jack Embree, and Bill Best.
Mrs. Venable was proceded in death by her husband, John T. Venable, two sons, Clifford and Eugene Venable, and one sister.
She is survived by one son, John Venable, Drumright, two brothers, Bill Montgomery, Chickasha, Oklahoma and Cecil Montgomery, of Denison, Texas, seven grandchilren, and ninteen great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Don Smith Funeral Home.
Willie Margaret Venable
Funeral services for former Cleveland resident Willie Margaret Venable were Monday, August 1, 1988, at 2 p.m. at the Chapman-Black Chapel. Rev. Jack Owens officiated. Interment was in the Fairfax Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
Mrs. Venable did Saturday, July 30, 1988 at the age of 77.
She had been a resident of Pawnee for the past eight years, where she was a Green Thumb employee for the Indian Agency.
A brother, James Franklin O'Dell, and a sister, Kathleen Ozell Baker preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the West Broadway Church of Christ, for Edgar E. Vice. Vice died Dec. 18, 1986 at the Cushing Hospital.
Vice was born July 13, 1914, near Grove, Ok. and moved to Drumright in 1944. Edgar and his wife, Georgia, were united in marriage on March 3, 1934 at Grove. He owned and operated the Vice Well Service, in Drumright, for a number of years. He was a member of the West Broadway Church of Christ in Drumright.
Officiating at the services were Frank Williams and Elvis Denney. Vocalists were Iva Barnes, Vernell Endecott, Helen Bowling, Wilma Tucker, Leslie Dinwiddie and Lenora Hester. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Dwain Vice, Eddie Vice, Doug Vice, David Vice, Kent Vice and Gary Vice. Honorary pallbearers were Everett Scott, Logan Brewster, Robert Carter, Earl Bateman, Don Lokey, Burl Rogers and Emmett Endecott.
Edgar is survived by his wife, Georgia, of the home, his sons, George E. Vice and Edgar E. Vice, Jr., both of Drumright. His daughters, Pamela Sue Hicks of Bartlesville, and Patsy Ann Tronniler of Enid. Also surviving are two brothers, Lonnie Vice, Texas City, Texas, and Dee Vice of Dayton, Texas; and two sisters, Martha Moore of Perry, Ok. and Geneva Lewis of Grand Prairie, Tx.; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One great-grandson, Trey Vice, preceded him in death.
Interment was at the Oakhill Cemetery, Drumright, with services under the direction of Don Smith Funeral Home.
Audrey Lucille Vickers, 101 14th St., N.W. Miami, Ok., died September 26 in the St. John's Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
She was born in Durant, Ok., September 28, 1921, and came to the Olive area with her parents Edd and Ruth Neeley. she married Marvin L. Vickers at Olive on January 3, 1937. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1979.
Survivors include son Kenneth Vickers, Sugar Land, Texas; daughter Shirley Atkinson of Lawton; brothers Ben of Claremore, Ralph and Jack of Tulsa and J.B. Neeley of Tempe, Ariz.; sister June Spradlin of Cushing and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. September 29 in the Bailes Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. K. Ray McDowell officiating. Music was by the Jackson family.
Pallbearers were Ralph and Jack Neeley, Charles Atkinson, Raymond Rowell, Jack Vickers and Daryl Barnes.
Interement was in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Bailes Funeral Home.

Audrey Vickers died September 24. Her funeral was September 29 at the Bailes Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Ray McDowell officiated. Pallbearers were Ralph and Jack Neeley, Daryl Barnes, Charles Atkinson, Raymond Rowell and Jack Vickers. She was buried in the Drumright Oak Hill Cemetery. She was raised here and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edd Neelie.
Funeral services for Mark James Vinson, 23, 1030 E. Fifth, Cushing, were held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cushing. The Rev. Lester Lunday and George Brock III officiated. Interment was in Stroud cemetery.
Vinson was a native of Oklahoma born June 10, 1960 at Bristow. He was the son of Nolan and Mae Vinson. At an early age he and his family came to Cushing where he was raised and attended Cushing schools, he graduated with the class of 1978.
He continued to live in Cushing while working as a pumper in area oilfields.
He is survived by his parents Nolan and Mae Vinson, 1030 E. Fifth, Cushing; brother Ross of Apache, OK; sisters Mrs. Sherry Selvidae of Yukon, OK and Mrs. Janet Ward of Perry, KS and grandparents Dave Stevens of Quinton, OK and Mrs. Marie Ingram of Stroud.
The casket remained closed with no visitation rights.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fairley-Hackler Funeral Home.

Former Drumright High School teacher, Orville VonGulker died April 7, 1986, at his home in Laguna Hills, California. He was head of the English department and journalism instructor here for several years during the 1930's.
Active in civic affairs, he was co-editor of the Drumright Journal, president of the Jaycees, a charter member of the Lions club organized in 1936.
Later he moved to California where he resided for many years.
Survivors are his wife Gertrude Crisman Von Gulker and a daughter, Yvonne.
