Roy Parsons
Mr. Roy C. Parsons, age 78, of Jasper (Georgia), went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 20, 2004.
He was born April 17, 1926 in Falmouth, Ky. Mr. Parsons was a Navy veteran of W W II serving in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from Sears-Roebuck Co. Mr. Parsons was a charter member of Cornerstone Church and volunteered at the Community Food Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bess; three sisters, Elizabeth, Ethel, and Minnie Lee; and one granddaughter, Shannon. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Parsons, Jasper; sons and daughter-in-law, Bill and Cookie Parsons, Jasper, and Carl Parsons, Marietta; daughter, Sara Kay Coles, Daytona Beach, Fl.; brother, Jack Parsons, Lexington, Ky.; and sister, Jenny Rawlings, Lexington. Seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 from Cornerstone Church with Pastor Ron Rucker and Dr. Sam Justus officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Local Chapter #47 DAV in charge of military graveside service.
The following served as pallbearers: Chris Fetterman, Rocky Parsons, Sam Justus, Mark Cain, Tom Williams and Jeff Perdue. Honorary pallbearers were: Jerry Ingram, Joel Tanner, David Gilreath and Henry DelCastillo.
