GEORGE WASHINGTON MAXWELL, son of Mary "Polly" Strain, daughter of Robert Fulton Strain, was born on May 7, 1854, and died February 10, 1930, in Altus, Jackson County, Oklahoma. He is buried in Altus Cemetery, Jackson County, Oklahoma.

George Washington Maxwell married (1) Henrietta Jane Majors on August 27, 1876, in Parker County, Texas. He married (2) Martha Ollie Stayton in 1891.
