FRED VAN HORN, son of George Lafayette, son of John C. Van Horne, was born on June 8, 1888 in Fontana, Miami County, Kansas, and died on June 30, 1960 in Paola, Miami County, Kansas.
Fred Van Horn married Mabel Ellen Chrisjohn, daughter of George Chrisjohn and Mary Staley on November 3, 1915, in Paola, Miami County, Kansas.
Children of Fred Van Horn and Mabel Ellen Chrisjohn are:

Funeral services for Fred Van Horn, a retired employee of the Missouri Pacific Railroad, were held Saturday afternoon at the Eddy Funeral Home.
Van Horn, a retired engineer, died Thursday at the Miami County Hospital at the age of 72.
He was born on a farm north of Fontana and moved here at an early age. He attended the local schools.
On Nov. 4, 1915, he married Mabel E. Chrisjohn. She preceded him in death. Two sons were born to the couple, Vernon D., Osawatomie, and Dean L., New Orleans, La.
Van Horn retired in October, 1957.
Other survivors include three brothers, Jesse of Paola, Roy of Van Buren, Ark., and Jim of Osawatomie, one sister, Mamie Mallory of Ottawa; and five grandchildren.
The Rev. A. Oda Beach officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Roy Huffman, W. W. Hayden, M. N. Everett, Charles Rose, R. J. Wagers, and L. E. Teeter. Nell Dollar provided the music.
Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.

OBITUARY FOR MABEL ELLEN CHRISJOHN VAN HORN:
Mabel Ellen Van Horn, daughter of George and Mary Chrisjohn, was born in Osawatomie, January 23, 1898 and died January 3, 1958 at the age of 59 years, 11 months, and 11 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She attended the Osawatomie Schools.
She was united in marriage on November 3, 1915, to Fred Van Horn, at Paola, Kansas, and to this union two sons, Vernon, of Osawatomie, and Dean of New Orleans, Louisiana, were born.
She was a member of the Firemen's Ladies Lodge and of the Royal Neighbors.
She is survived by the husband, Fred, of the home, the sons, Vernon and Dean; one brother, S. P. Chrisjohn of Osawatomie, five grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held in the Eddy Funeral Home, Monday, January 6, 1958 at 2 p.m. Rev. A. Otis Beech, Officiating.
Mrs. Ann Hauber and Mrs. Mary Ricketts sang "Goodnight and Good Morning," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Nell Dollar.
The friends who served as pallbearers were: G. A. Judd, B. E. Marriott, R. M. Beets, W. W. Hayden, M. T. Everett, and Marvin Matherly. Interment was in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
