The VAN HORN Family! Ah! The quest of a lifetime. My "brick wall." My "thorn in the side." My "obsession."

For fully fifteen years I have searched, dug, and beat bushes to find out even tiny tidbits of "real" information about this family. Information that could be documented. Information that is more than hear-say. Information with some substance and truth to it. It has been a very long fifteen years.

But today, puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place. We know, according to one authentic member of this elusive family who resides in the Ozark foothills of Northeastern Oklahoma, at least where the Van Horn family came into the United States.

Morris Van Horn, son of Marcus Tenney, son of John Calvin, states that the Van Horns came in to New York from Holland. The family joined a wagon train heading West, through Ohio and Iowa. They slowly made their way to the border of Nebraska and Kansas, having more children along the way. From that point it seems they scattered to the four winds to make their homes in a new land and seek their fortunes.

While the information on these pages lack several generations taking us "back to the boat", perhaps other Van Horns might be able to place some of their people here and help the lists to grow. That is our hope and desire.
