On July 29th, 1719, Ebenezer Parmelee, Sr., was deeded the property for 40 pounds (approximately $150,000 current value). Ebenezer was a clockmaker. In the eighteenth century, clockmakers were highly respected specialists and clocks were a coveted status symbol. Only 5% of householders in the Connecticut River Valley owned tall clocks before the Revolution. Ebenezer is responsible for the parlour paneling and other fine finish carpentry in the House.
In 1795, Ebenezer Parmelee, Jr., sold the Hyland House to his mother’s cousin, Seth Cruttenden, then 42 years old, whose family included only his wife, Anna Rossiter.4 - Isaac died on January 23, 1749 at age 83 of dropsy.3

- Gov. George Partridge was born about 1613. He was apparently not related to Ralph and Gervase Partridge, as stated in some sources.2
- He emigrated from Kent, England, according to Winsor's "History of Duxbury."3
- The first mention of his name upon the records of Plymouth County was in 1636, when he was granted five acres of land about Duxbury, Massachusetts, amounting in all to about 200 acres.3
- Winsor styles him "one of the most respectable yeomanry in the colony."3
- George married Sarah Tracy, daughter of Stephen Tracy and Tryphosa Lee, on November 16, 1638 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.4

He was one of the original purchasers of at Middleboro, Massachusetts.3 - In 1643, Gov. George Partridge his name appears in a list of those able to bear arms. Of this office Winsor says, "This was an office of high trust and responsibility and none were elected to it but men of good standing. Later, he was a "Surveyor of Highways" and a grand-jury man. He was either a private or a non-commisioned officer in Capt. Miles Standish's Company.3
- His will is recorded in Plymouth County Probate Records (Vol. I, p. 225) and was dated June 26, 1682. An inventory of his estate was taken 10 Oct 1695 and was witnessed by two sons of Miles Standish, Alexander and Josiah, and reads as follows.3
