Here are more names from the list of early Texas veterans, which are found on page 3 of 23 April 1881 issue of The Eastern Texas News (also referred to as The East Texas News). The information is verbatim except for the addition or omission of some conjunctions for style conformity. A copy of the issue is available for free online at the Portal to Texas History website at https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth235672 . (In this column, surnames on the roll are capitalized for emphasis. Some punctuation or other capitalization may be added for clarity.)

     C. LONGLEY, now of Bell County; native of Tennessee; came to Texas in 1836; served in Green’s division, Park’s company, in 1836; age 64.

Shadrach CAYCE, now of San Antonio; native of Tennessee; came to Texas in 1830; served in Capt. Boly Hardan’s (sic) company in 1835 [and in] Captain Tom Steward and Col. Moorehouse’s regiments in 1836; age 64.

Mrs. A. M. BURKE, now of Freestone County; native of South Carolina; widow of Capt. D. N. BURKE, deceased, of the Mobile Grays, a Captain in Fannin’s command at Goliad; was in service 1835-6.

     G. H. LOVE, now of Robinson (sic) County; native of Tennessee; came to Texas in 1836; served under Capt. Scurlock in 1836; age 61. (Editor’s note: Robinson must be a mistake for Robertson County.)

Chas. FORDTRAN, now of Clayton (sic) County; native of Germany; came to Texas in 1831; served under Capt. Bird in 1836; age 80. (Editor’s note: Chas. was an abbreviation for Charles. Since there is no county named Clayton in Texas, the correct place is probably Clay County.)
