This week we conclude sharing the death notices found in the “Answered the Last Call” section of the March 1929 (Volume 50, Number 2) issue of The Texas Druggist, the official periodical of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, published in Forney, Texas. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)
Page 53 – “Funeral services for William H. PITTS, 72, veteran traveling salesman and a resident of Dallas for the last eight years was held at 2 P. M., Wednesday, February 6th. Funeral was held in Restland Memorial Park.
Mr. Pitts died Tuesday morning at a local hospital. He resided at 3226 McKinney Avenue. Mr. Pitts was a native of Henderson and had traveled in the Panhandle country of Texas more than thirty years. He had been connected with the Pepsin Syrup Company since 1907 and had a host of friends among the retail druggists. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Pentagon Masonic Lodge, which had charge of his funeral services.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Pitts of Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Loraine WILSON of San Diego, Cal.; and a sister, Mrs. Julia LEDFORD of Inez.” A photograph of him accompanied the article.
Page 53 – “Dr. Albert A. BLASINGAME, pioneer Texas doctor and druggist of Kemp, died Sunday, March 3rd, after a brief illness. He had practiced medicine for ten years prior to 1902 in Rockport and since that time had been engaged in the drug business in Kemp.
He had been active in Masonic work and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Christian Church at Kemp.
Dr. Blasingame is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amy Sue Blasingame, and two daughters.”
