     Like many other issues of the publication, the September 1929 (Volume 50, Number 4) edition of The Texas Druggist contains a section titled “Drug Store Happenings.” The miscellaneous data pertain to individuals and businesses all over the Lone Star State. Below are some selected items from the section. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 51 – “A. C. WENDEL has purchased the drug store of Fred NABERS at Fredericksburg.

     Haskel GOWEN recently purchased H. B. BERRY’s interest in the B. & B. Drug Store at Fort Stockton.

     C. J. HYATT of Olden has just moved his Central Drug Store at that place into a new brick building.

     Mr. DeWitt SNEED of San Angelo has accepted a position as pharmacist at the Sonora Drug Store at Sonora.

     H. J. STEPHENSON of the Union community, Snyder, has recently traded his farm for a drug store in Waco.

     Erwin W. DOIGG, who has been with the Liggett stores at Dallas, has been transferred to the Waco store.

     John S. FRITZ of O’Donnel (sic) has announced that he has purchased the Finley Drug Store from R. E. FINLEY of Wilson.

     L. B. SNAPP recently purchased the interest of Loice McMURTREY in the Bangs Drug Company and is now sole owner of the same.”

     Page 52 – “J. W. STEWART of Jefferson recently accepted a position as druggist with McWilliams-Saine Drug Company at Texarkana.

     John L. GUICE recently purchased Mrs. Lucy McCOMB’s confectionery and is remodeling and re-arranging it and making it into a first-class drug store.

     J. O. YARGAN, with the Liggett Drug Company for more than five years, has been appointed manager of the Liggett’s store at Elm and Akard streets, the headquarters store of the Dallas chain.

     Clyde CARTER of Orange Grove has just completed his course in pharmacy at the pharmacy school in Fort Worth. He expects to resume his old place with the Orange Grove Pharmacy.

     J. C. VANCE, a pharmacy graduate and a man who has had years of experience in both the wholesale and retail business, has become manager and pharmacist of the City Pharmacy at Grand Saline.

     H. A. MUNNELY of Fort Worth has accepted a position with the Corner Crug Store at La Grange as prescription clerk. Mr. Munnely has over twenty years experience and is in a position to render first-class service.

     The Hughes-Upshaw Drug Company store on the north side of the square at Belton was recently sold to R. E. CLEMENT and son, Rex CLEMENT, of Goldthwaite. The name of the firm will be changed to Clement Drug Company.

     F. B. TURNER has been transferred from the management of the Liggett drug stores in Waco to Dallas, where he is to manage store No. 1408 at Elm and Ervay streets and handle advertising for all Liggett stores in Dallas.

     George W. PUTEGNAT of Brownsville has accepted a position with the T. B. Waite Drug Store. He formerly had been identified with the Willman Pharmacy in Brownsville. Mr. Putegnat is a former student of the University of Texas.

     Wm WILLIAMS, who has been in the employ of one of the Liggett stores at Houston, goes now to Seguin to open Williams Drug Store No. 2, in the same block with Williams Drug Store No. 1, owned and operated for several years by his father.”
