     The two death notices below appear on page 39 in the December 1928 (Volume 50, Number 1) issue of The Texas Druggist, the official periodical of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, published in Forney, Texas. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     “Dr. L. D. LeGEAR of St. Louis, who has been lecturing in Texas, received the sad news of the sudden death of his brother, Charlie LeGEAR, of the LeGear Medicine Co. of St. Louis, while visiting at Forney on Dec. 12th. He left immediately for St. Louis.

     Marvin ROWLAND, 44, druggist, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, from injuries sustained the previous Saturday night when a car in which he was riding struck a telephone pole one mile north of Tyler. An operation performed to relieve pressure at the base of his crushed skull was thought to have been successful, but pneumonia set in.

     Mr. Rowland’s former home was at Bullard, but he had lived here for many years and was one of the best known druggists in East Texas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at Troup. His mother and a sister survive.”

     Page 40 – “S. P. BROOKS of Waco recently purchased the Burleson Drug Store at San Saba.

     Joe FORRESTER recently purchased [a] fourth interest in Grundy’s Drug Store at Lone Oak.

     Leonard HUFF of Bonham has accepted a position with the Shinpaugh Rexall store of that place.

     Chas. S. RICHARDSON of Olney has purchased an interest in the Wichita Falls Drug Company of Wichita Falls.

     John FAULK of Sulphur Springs has accepted a position as prescription clerk at the Rexall Pharmacy of Chillicothe.

     The Texas Drug Company at Alice, which recently suffered a diastrous fire, has re-opened in charge of E. D. DUNLAP.

     Farris BAKER of Fort Stockton has recently sold his interest in the Baker Drug Store to Messrs. C. H. BREAZEALE and H. C. BERRY.

     C. J. RIKE of Farmersville has accepted a position with H. G. GUY of Hillsboro. Mr. Rike is a registered druggist and has spent most of his life in the drug trade.

     Announcement has been made that Nelson ENGLISH of Premont has sold his drug business to Dr. ALMAN of Marathon. Mr. English will devote his time to the development of citrus fruit.

     Complimenting the auxiliary to the Tarrant County Retail Independent Druggists’ Association, the president, Mrs. James B. FRAZIER, entertained recently with a luncheon at her home, 1015 College Avenue, Fort Worth.

     The Broadway Drug Store, located on Baird and Wall streets, Midland, Texas, was opened for business recently. It is owned by Messrs. H. B. BULLINGTON and O. B. KAY...Mr. Kay, an experienced drug and fountain man, is manager.”

     Page 43 – “Glen JOHNSON is having the Palace Drug Store at Mineral Wells remodeled.

     O. C. ARTHUR of Quitaque opened a new drug store in the new town of Daughtery.”
