Co-sponsored by the East Texas Genealogical Society (ETGS) and the Tyler Family History Center, the 17th annual ETGS family history fair is scheduled for Saturday, 11 March 2017, in Tyler, Texas. The all-day event will take place at the Tyler Family History Center, located at 1617 Shiloh Road in Tyler.
Keynote speaker in the morning will be Teri E. Flack, who will discuss strategies to “kickstart” your research and methods and sources to discover data about female ancestors. Featured speakers for the afternoon sessions will be Deborah Burkett, Web Freeman, Andy Leath, Scott Fitzgerald, and Rochell McWhorter. Their topics will include tips on conducting oral history interviews, East Texas Piney Woods spunky women from the 1850s to the 1960s, skills to begin genealogical research, how to use land and Texas courthouse records, and updates on RootsTech 2017.
The conference is free if you pre-register by 3 March 2017. Box lunches will be provided for $10.00 each. Any orders for box lunches must be received by 3 March 2017.
