     Here are more selected items found in the “Drug Store Happenings” section of the December 1928 (Volume 50, Number 1) issue of The Texas Druggist, the official periodical of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, published in Forney, Texas. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 46 – “Dr. E. F. JARRELL, veterinarian, has opened a veterinary drug store in Tyler in connection with his veterinary hospital, thus giving that city the honor of having the first exclusive drug store handling drugs for the care of ...animals.

     After 25 years of service to the community, Dr. J. W. MATLOCK has retired from the drug business at Rochelle, B. B. MATLOCK continuing the business under his own name. Dr. Matlock will continue as a practicing physician.

     R. A. LOUGH, for the past nine years connected with the Harman Drug Company of Fort Worth and for five years manager of the company’s branch store at 115 North Main Street [in] Electra, has purchased the stock and has assumed full charge of the business at the place.

     The new tile and stucco building recently erected by N. BERGVALL, opposite the former temporary location of the First National Bank of Woodsboro, has been leased for three years to a firm operating a chain of drug stores throughout the state.

     E. S. KEYS, manager of the Parkland Garage and Filling Station at Dallas, discovering a burglar in the Parkland Hospital pharmacy at Dallas, recently was fired upon twice by the robber as he ran from the place when Keys walked up to the drug store entrance to investigate.

     D. C. LAIRD has sold the Laird Drug Store at Plainview to E. G. ALEXANDER of Brownfield and A. M. McMILLAN of Plainview. Mr. Alexander owns a drug store at Brownfield, one at Littlefield, and one at Levelland. Mr. McMillan is the owner of McMillan’s Drug Store on the north side of the square.

     Mr. S. M. LYTAL, connected with the Robertson Drug Stores at Lubbock, was an appreciated caller at Association Headquarters at Forney recently. He was just returning from the sad mission of attending the funeral of his father, Dr. S. W. LYTAL, at Quinlan, Texas....”

     Page 49 – “B. J. CARTER of Edgewood was a caller at headquarters the past month.

     H. W. SCHMIDT, employed by E. O. KUNITZ as a pharmacist, died at Cuero, Texas, September 26th.

     F. M. FARRIS has purchased the interest of Guy RUSSELL in the drug store which they have jointly conducted at Sudan.

     Mr. and Mrs. Edwin BRUCE, formerly of Ft. Worth, have located in Alice and have purchased the fixtures of the former Texas Drug Company.

     Ray S. CARTER of Pampa was a recent caller at headquarters....

     H. E. BUTLER, 42 [,] propritor (sic) (i. e., proprietor) of the Oak Lawn Pharmacy, Dallas, was seriously injured when hit by a motor truck on the Eighth Street road at 6 p. m., Tuesday, Nov. 4th.

     Pinaud, Inc., are making quite an active campaign in Texas for the line of toiletries. Mr. Jack ALLEN is the big chief and he should be able to put the undertaking over for them.

     The Adams Drug Co. at Roganville has been sold to S. B. SMYLEY and J. H. ARCHER. Mr. Adams will engage in farming....
