The Virginia Genealogical Society (VGS) will hold its annual spring conference on 21-22 April 2017 in Richmond, Virginia. This year’s theme is “DNA and Social Media Research Strategies.”

On 21 April, the society offers attendees a day of guided research at the Library of Virginia. Experienced researchers will be available to answer questions, provide individual assistance to beginners, and offer strategies for difficult genealogical problems.

Shannon Combs-Bennett will be the featured speaker on 22 April. Her topics will include explaining genetic genealogy for inexperienced researchers, creating a research plan for DNA testing, organizing DNA data, and “crowdsourcing” to help break down genealogical “brick walls.”

For details about costs and hotels, visit the society’s web page at www.vgs.org  or you may write to VGS Fall Conference, P. O. Box 626, Orange, Virginia 22960. Rates to attend the conference are ten dollars cheaper if you register by 1 April 2017.

This week we continue with names of grand jurors chosen for various courts, as found on page 1 of the 12 October 1933 (Thursday) issue of the newspaper, The Shelby Reporter, published in Center, Texas. (Surnames are capitalization for emphasis.)
