     In this first column for the new year, we continue with selected items found in the “Drug Store Happenings” section of the December 1928 (Volume 50, Number 1) issue of The Texas Druggist, the official periodical of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, published in Forney, Texas. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 44 – “E. T. RENFRO added the thirteenth drug store to his list in Fort Worth recently with the purchase of Transfer Drug Store No. 2, located in the Alexander-Bale Building, Camp Bowie Boulevard and West Seventh St....

     W. C. FISHER and E. F. FISHER of Uvalde, who for the past 16 years have conducted a drug business there under the name of Fisher Bros., have sold their business to W. R. MUIR of Corpus Christi and B. B. TREADWELL of Uvalde. The name of the firm will be changed back to the Uvalde Drug Co., that being the same name of the company when Fisher Bros. took charge.”

     Page 45 – “J. R. CONE has sold his interest in the Llano Drug Co. to Allen S. JOHNSON and D. R. KEYSER.

     L. C. PICKLE, formerly manager of the Blue Bonnet Drug store (sic) at Kerrville, has accepted a position with the Rock Drug Store of that city.

     The stock and fixtures of the drug store of the late G. F. CHAPMAN of Mesquite has been sold to the American-Indian (sic) Herb Drug Co. of Dallas and moved to that city.

     J. F. FRY, recently of Loraine, has purchased the Deal Drug Store on Front Street in Merkel. The name of the store in future will be City Drug Store.

     Dr, H. P. CLIFTON, who has lived on a farm north of Commerce for many years, has traded a farm for the Carruthers Drug Store at the southwest corner of the square at Commerce.

     Mr. G. C. KIRKLAND of Goliad is having the front of his already attractive store building remodeled....

     The Hotel Drug, located in the new Hotel Childress, Childress, Texas, and in charge of Reid B. SCOTT, will open its doors to the public. January 15....

     Aubrey PARKER, who has been connected with the Woods Drug Store at Kirbyville for several years, will sever his connections with that firm to accept the assistant managership (sic) of the Nederland Pharmacy at Nederland on the first of December.

     T. E. HODGES, druggist of Forney, has arranged for the establishment of a drug store at Aparr, recently opened town-site in Duval County. Mr. Hodges purchased a business lot in Aparr and expects to move his stock to the new place shortly. Mr. Hodges has been engaged in the drug business in Forney for several months....”

     Page 46 – “R. A. STEEN will open a new store at Sonora about the first of the year....

     The new modern brick drug store erected by Oscar WALTERS on Main Street at Littlefield, was formally opened for business on Wednesday, Nov. 14th.

     The Brooks Drug Store at Honey Island, owned by C. O. BROOKS of Daisetta, was sold by its owner recently to the Kirby Lumber Company interests, who have taken over the mill operations there.

     The formal opening of the drug store of T. B. WAITE at Mission was attended by large crowds....”
