     The death notices in this week’s column can be found in the March 1938 issue of The Texas Druggist. (Some punctuation is added for clarity. Surnames are in all-caps for emphasis.)

     Page 22 –

     “James Thomas COULSON, 66, of Dallas, vice-president and general manager of the Southwestern Drug Corporation, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, after a short illness.

     A native of Kentucky, Mr. Coulson moved with his family to Corsicana in 1878. He came to Dallas about twenty-five years ago and was in the retail drug business for a number of years. He owned the first drug store in the Hotel Adolphus.

     He was a Mason, a Shriner, and for many years, a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his widow and several brothers and sisters.

     He was a past president of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, having served in 1906-7. Was a charter member of the Texas Veteran Druggists and active in association work. He had a large following of devoted friends.”

     “Funeral services for J. C. HULL, 84, were conducted by the Beeville Masonic Lodge at Glenwood Cemetery in Beeville, Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 8th, at 4 o’clock.

     Mr. Hull was a resident of Beeville for a number of years, establishing what is now the Atkinson Drug Store.

     Mr. Hull sold his business to T. T. MARSDEN and Paul MUELLER. In 1916, he moved his family to San Antonio, which had since been his residence and where he was engaged in business for a number of years.”

    Also appearing on page 23 is this notice:

     “J. Louis MARSH, 37, sales manager for the Behrens Drug Company, died Friday night, February 18th, at a Marlin hospital.

     Born and reared in Waco, Mr. Marsh was one of Waco’s prominent younger businessmen. He was first vice-president of the Waco Chamber of Commerce and a charter member of the Waco Junior Chamber of Commerce, of which organization he was former president.

     Mr. Marsh was active in church work and in Masonic circles. He was senior warden of Herring Lodge and a member of Karen Shrine, Waco. For twenty years, he had been associated with the Behrens Drug Company.

     Besides his wife, Mr. Marsh is survived by a son and a daughter.

     The funeral was held from the Columbus Avenue Baptist Church of which he was a loyal and active member. He served as president of the Texas Drug Travelers at the El Paso meeting last year.

     Louis Marsh was a gentleman in every respect and a friend in whom every confidence could be placed. A large circle of friends have been made sad by his untimely passing.”
