Rev. W. W. RIVERS is listed as pastor in the column concerning Baptist Church news.

An article titled “Farm Debt Adjustment Available to Shelbyites” pertains to one of the many problems resulting from the Great Depression. The article states: ”The object of Farm Debt Adjustment...is to help farmers save their homes. There are as yet many distressed farm debt cases pending in Shelby County....These debts should be adjusted in such a manner as to leave the farm family in possession of the farm, and tenant farmers should be encouraged and given special aid in possessing farms....

The Farm-Debt Adjustment committeemen have been schooled in ways and means of attacking farmers’ debt difficulties and have available special assistance...Farmers are invited to contact the members and make their debt problems known. Thomas R. DAY, chairman of Center, and Zed BRIDGES, Frank SHORT, and T. H. BRITTAIN, all of Center, are also members of the committee in this county. Farmers facing debt difficulties are urged to begin at once to effect a solution...The committee meets regularly at Center on the last Thursday of each month at 10:00 a. m.”
