     This week we conclude the selected items from the “Drug Store Happenings” section of the September 1929 (Volume 50, Number 4) edition of The Texas Druggist. (Some punctuation may be added or deleted in the narrative for clarity. Surnames are capitalized for emphasis.)

     Page 54 – “MR. R. T. HOOKS of Mineola has recently purchased a drug store in Levelland.

     Mr. T. M. CAMPBELL of Galveston recently purchased the Good Drug Store from Mr. R. J. GOOD of La Porte.

     Jimmie NEVINS of Houston has accepted a position with the Corner Drug Store at Huntsville as a prescription clerk.

     L. E. RAPE has recently sold his drug store in Waco and is now at Whitney with his father, W. J. RAPE, helping at the Rape Store.

     The Grand Drug Store at Littlefield had its formal opening Saturday, July 20, 1929. The proprietors are Zac ISABELL (sic) and Carl DOSS.

     E. B. MASSIE of Floydada recently opened a drug store in the Henne building at Coleman and Carancahua streets in Corpus Christi.

     Roy HOOVER, who was in the drug business in Kennett, Mo., has moved to Lockhart and will be connected with the Corner Drug Store there.

     A drug store and soft drink fountain will be opened up in Carey within the next few days by Reid B. SCOTT of Childress.

     Vernon C. ANDREWS, formerly of Clarendon, has accepted a position as prescription clerk with the Floydada Drug Company at Floydada. Mr. Andrews is a graduate pharmacist, licensed in Texas, California, and Iowa.

     T. J. SETTLE recently opened the new City Drug Store in the Boyd building at Plainview. Mr. M. A. DUNN will have charge of the prescription department.

     Among those attending the Diamond Jubilee Celebration, staged by the San Antonio Drug Company of San Antonio, were J. A. WINCH and N. C. WINDROW of Laredo.

     W. W. WYNNE, pharmacist of the Livingston Drug Store [in] Livingston, Texas, has been on the sick list for several weeks; [he] is reported to be improving nicely.

     McFatter & Bangle of Tulia recently sold the Star Drug Store to Mr. Wm. P. THOMPSON of Calvin, Okla. He is a registered pharmacist in Oklahoma and will qualify under the laws of Texas.

     The Parks Drug Company, under the management of M. G. PARKS, has been moved from Edinburg to its new location in the Richard building just completed in Cathay Courts Annex, east of McAllen on the highway.

     Franklin DUSEK, part owner of the Dusek Pharmacy at Cameron, is planning to enter a school of pharmacy at Fort Worth to obtain a certificate as a registered pharmacist.

     R. E. GOSS, health inspector, has been assigned to the task of inspecting drug stores exclusively. As most drug stores have a soda fountain and lunch counter, it is very important that they be inspected frequently.

      W. LUSK, who recently purchased Edinburg Drug Store No. 2 from John BOX of Edinburg, has moved his stock of goods into the quarters recently vacated by the Parks Drug Co. and will name his new pharmacy the New Corner Drug Store. The store is now open for business.

     Renfro Drug Store No. 2, located in the new Dent Theatre building on Pioneer Plaza at El Paso, recently had its formal opening....The soda fountain counter is over 30 feet in length and is believed to be the longest one in the city. J. A. SYMMES is manager of the store.”
