     This week we continue extracting information from an old copy of a Shelby County, Texas, newspaper. The data appear in the 30 April 1936 issue of the Center Daily News, published in Center, Texas. (Surnames are capitalized for emphasis. Some punctuation may be changed for clarity.)

     The items below can be found in the column, “Tenaha Topics,” written by Mrs. Dave McNEILL.

     “Mrs. A. B. McCRERY entertained the 42 club at her home near Tenaha, Friday Afternoon....

     Mrs. Luke MOTLEY will leave Wednesday for Palacios, Texas, to accompany her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard SMITH of Timpson.

     Misses Lula Beth MITLEY, with Beth HOOKER and James DAVIS, attended a party given by Jim HAYES in Center, Friday evening.

     Clayton PARKER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles PARKER, who was thrown from a motorcycle when the gears locked at Kilgore last week, is in the Tri-State Sanitarium in Shreveport and is much better.

     Rev. H. C. HARRIS was a visitor to Shreveport, Thursday, to see Clayton PARKER.

     Mr. and Mrs. Lem DAVIS, accompanied by their son, James, and Miss Ray PARKER, motored to Shreveport, Sunday, to see the picture show, “Little Lorl (sic) Fountteray (sic).”
     (Editor’s note: The correct name of the movie, which was also a popular children’s book, is “Little Lord Fauntleroy.”)

     Mr. and Mrs. Auburn RIVERS of Kilgore visited with Mrs. Rivers’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles PARKER this week.

     Mrs. Ben HURST of San Augustine visited with her mother, Mrs. M. H. HOOKER, Thursday.

     Misses Ethel and Derrel PARKER, who are teaching at Gladewater, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ford PARKER, the (sic) weekend.

     Master Jimmie CLAUNCH of Salem school (sic) is a guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. McCRERY this week. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. CLAUNCH, accompanied him to Tenaha, Sunday, returning to their home Sunday afternoon.

     Mr. and Mrs. Charles PARKER and family spent Sunday in Shreveport to be with their son, Clayton PARKER.”

     No author appears for the column of items for the Shelby County town of Joaquin.

     “Miss Ann WALKER, director of Home Economics at Pine Ridge School, near Longview, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. O. WALKER.

     Terrell BROOKSHIRE was a visitor in Shreveport, Saturday.

     Mr. and Mrs. Randolph RUSHING visited relatives in Dallas last weekend.

     One of the loveliest social affairs of the season was the miscelllaneous (sic) shower given on Thursday afternoon by Mrs. Randolph RUSHING and Miss Marjory COLE, honoring Mrs. D. H. CLANCY, a recent bride...Little Margaret Ann RUSHING and Mary Della ANDERSON led the honoree to a table laden with unusual and beautiful gifts. Delicious refreshments were served to forty-eight guests. Out-of-town guests...Mesdames J. E. MEYER, T. _?_ [last part of several sentences cut out of the newspaper] GUNT, and J. C. MILLER of Shreveport and Mesdames Paxton COX and _?__ E. CARROLL of Logansport.

     Mrs. Y. W. ROGERS entertained Friday evening at her lovely home in Center, with a six o’clock dinner honoring the birthday of her father, S. B. CRAWFORD...

     Miss Pauline TRUITT....Texas, is the guest of relatives [and] friends for a few days. Accompanied by her mother and brother, A. J. TRUITT, Jr., she spent the weekend with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack DAVIDSON, at Elizabeth, La.

     Mr. and Mrs. Guy KING visited relatives in Elizabeth, La., on Sunday of last week.”
