Announcement of death of Harold Kneen

HAROLD KNEEN DIES IN CALIFORNIA

Word was received here by friends of Mr. and Mrs. Will Kneen Sunday morning announcing the death of Harold Kneen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Kneen, of Los Angeles, Calif. Harold had been ill with heart trouble for some time and succumbed early Sunday morning. The remains are being brought to Hartley for burial and will arrive in Sheldon on Thursday. Arrangements for the funeral have not been received.

He is survived by his wife and little son and his mother and father. Mr. and Mrs. Kneen left for Los Angeles last Monday to be at his bedside.

Harold is a graduate of the Hartley high school and was graduated from law at the University of Iowa with the class of 1924. He practised law for two or three years at Red Oak and has been residing in California for the past several years. He was 41 years of age at the time of his death.

OBITUARY

HAROLD KNEEN

Harold Kneen, of Los Angeles, Calif., only son of Mr. And Mrs. William Kneen of Hartley, was born at Hartley, Iowa, December 25, 1895. He grew to manhood at Hartley, graduating from the high school at Hartley and also from the University of Iowa, where he received the degree of doctor of law. For two years Mr. Kneen practised law at Red Oak, Ia., later becoming associated with the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Los Angeles where for 10 years he worked on many famous cases, including the Gettle kidnapping case, the Monte Carlo gambling ship hi-jacking and several of the government's anti-trust prosecutions and some of the southland's biggest criminal cases.

Mr. Kneen was united in marriage with Helen McGelaary of Lowden, Ia. He joined the masonic lodge at Red Oak and maintained his membership there. He enlisted for service in the World War at Iowa City in the Dr. Love Medical Corps, being located at Fort Riley in Kansas until after the Armistice was signed and then went to Fort Snelling. He was a member of the American Legion at Hollywood.

Mr. Kneen retired from the Bureau in 1936 because of poor health.

His parents were called to his bedside two weeks ago and were with him only two days before he passed away on May 27th with heart trouble. He was 43 years of age.

He is survived by his wife Helen and son Robert, who is 4 years old, also his parents and other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the National Soldiers home Monday, May 28, at Los Angeles and at the Methodist church at Hartley on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. A mixed quartette sang two of his favorite hymns and Miss Florence Fahlenkamp and Mrs. H B. Pike sang a beautiful duet, "One Sweetly Solemn Thought."

The sermon was delivered by Rev. E. J. Plummer, pastor of the church. The Foley Funeral Home had charge of the funeral. Interment was made in Pleasant View cemetery.

The funeral was attended by many friends, also the members of the American Legion.

The many floral tributes of the friends in California and Hartley bespoke the high esteem of his many friends and business associates.
