Barbara KNIGHT [Parents]-38366 was born in Wisconsin. Barbara married Robert Melvin BRUMM-38368 on 3 Sep 1960 in Birnamwood, Shawano, Wisconsin.

MARRIAGE: Wausau Daily Herald
Wausau, Wisconsin
7 September 1960 (Wednesday)
Saturday Nuptials At Birnamwood
The Congregational Church at Birnamwood was the scene of a pretty fall wedding last Saturday afternoon when Miss Barbara Knight, older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Knight, Birnamwood Route 2, became the bride of Robert Brumm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brumm, Mattoon, in a double-ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Harry Vanderbilt at 2:30 o'clock. Bouquets of white gladioli and bowls of sweet peas formed a floral setting for the bridal party. Mrs. Harvey Stang, Hogarty, played the wedding march and Mrs. Russell Hetzel, an aunt of the bride, sang “The Lord's Prayer” and “O Promise Me” during the ceremony. The bride was gowned in baroness bridal satin made with an overskirt of Chantilly lace. The bodice and front panel of the skirt were of the satin. The sleeves were long and pointed and the bodice was fashioned with a scalloped neckline accented with pearls. Her finger-tip veil was held in place by a crown adorned with sequins. She carried a white Bible with a single white orchid tied with satin ribbon. Miss Georgia Knight, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Slevey Knight was bridesmaid. Their identical frocks of blue lace over taffeta were street-length. Pleated crepe formed the necklines, head bands and veils. They carried colonial bouquets of pink rosebuds. Lyle Brumm, Tomah, brother of the groom, was best man and Roger Knight, brother of the bride, was groomsman. Mrs. Knight attended her daughter's wedding in blue shantung accented with a corsage of pink rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a coffee-colored nylon lace dress with pink accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. At 4:30 o'clock, following a reception in the church parlors, a wedding dinner was served in the church dining room to about 100 guests from Birnamwood, Mattoon, Antigo, Tomah, Wausau, Rhinelander, Aniwa, Gleason and Chicago and Winthrop Harbor, Ill. A large, decorated wedding cake occupied the place of honor at the table reserved for the bridal party. The bride's grandfather, Ira Knight, was present at the family table. A wedding dance was held at the Mattoon Community hall in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Brumm left during the evening for a trip to northern Wisconsin after which they will reside in Madison where the bridegroom is a radio operator with the Wisconsin State Traffic Patrol. After his graduation from the Mattoon High School in 1956, he served four years in the Navy. The bride is a graduate of the Birnamwood High School, class of 1958, and has been with the Employers Mutuals since that time.

Opal Knight, 83, up for 'adoption'
Kissimee – Opal Knight, 83, is up for adoption this week as part of the Osceola County Council on Aging's Be a Senior's Santa program. A $25 gift donation for each senior adopted will provide: a Christmas dinner complete with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce and all the fixings; Christmas gifts delivered by the council's volunteer Santa's helpers; an invitation to the Council on Aging's Christmas party, where the adoptee can enjoy the fellowship of friends; and “adoption papers,” which certify each contributor as a Senior Santa. Knight lives in St. Cloud. Her only family is a sister who lives in Indiana. Knight likes plants, talking on the phone and attending church. This will be the second time Knight is adopted; she was an adopted child. There are more than 400 elderly “orphans” in the county. Individuals, businesses or organizations are invited to join the council in making this Christmas a happy holiday by adopting these senior citizens. As of this week, the Council on Aging had received 303 offers to adopt a senior for Christmas. Peggy Martinez, administrative assistant for the council, said adoptions will be accepted through Wednesday. Donna Stiteler, executive director, said any proceeds left after reaching the council's goal of 400 seniors will be used to meet the needs of some of the council's other 3,000 clients who were not adopted. For  more information, call the Osceola County Council on Aging at 846-8532.

BIOGRAPHY: Perrysburg Journal
Perrysburg, Ohio
7 June 1917 (Thursday)
A Splendid Gift.
The school items last week erroneously stated that Mr. George Knight had given manual training tools to the schools. The name should have been William W. Knight. Mr. Knight has made a very generous donation to the schools as he has provided a full set of all necessary tools for the prosecution of the work in the manual training department which is of great importance to the pupils of all grades interested in the work. Without this assistance from Mr. Knight the work in the department would have been greatly hampered for lack of tools. Mr. Knight's generosity is truly appreciated by the pupils and all who understand the importance of the work he is thus kindly promoting.
