Hello,Knights!
Nell Lee is my husband's grandmother. She gave me her family history and PHOTOS before she died in 1983. She said her mother's mother died very young, and her name was Irona Johnson. She died at the age of 23 of TB, Leaving little Martha just 2 years old. On your site, Irona does not appear. I believe the first two children of Lester P. Knight were from Irona. The rest of the site is a wonderful resource, many more names than I'd hoped to find, and with great "notes". Learning their history and their personalities is as important to me as learning their names. I'm happy to share anything I have with other searchers. [email protected]

Sarah Ann RHODES [scrapbook]-11229 was born on 6 Jan 1834 in Morgan County, Ohio. She died on 28 Sep 1918 in Unionville, Putnam, Missouri. She was buried in Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Putnam, Missouri. Sarah married Wilhelm JanBen Branzen HENDRIX-11228 on 7 Dec 1850 in Schuyler County, Ohio.

BIOGRAPHY: Sarah moved to Putnam County in 1855. William was older with a small child to raise. The couple quickly added 6 more children and William went off to fight for the North in the Civil War. Sarah's tribe was probably the Chippewa (Mound Builders) as they were a prominent tribe in the area. (This is all unverifed info.)

BIOGRAPHY: Daniel Ballou and family are thus characterized by his son Job Ballou of Pascoag, RI: "My father was a man of commanding presence, and possessed much dignity of manner. He was greatly respected in the community where he lived for his uprightness and stern sense of honor and right. During the war of 1812 he held the commission of Lieutenant in the militia, and for many days during those stirring times was in constant readiness tn respond tn a call to the front. There have been but few offices held in our family. But its members have, as a rule, taken a commendable interest in public affairs. While they have been conservative in politics and religion, they have invariably indentitied themselves with the party of progress and reform. They have generally pursued the occupation of farmers, although several of them evinced a taste for the mechanic arts. My father himself was a carpenter as well as farmer, &c." He makes no specific mention of the two wives and mothers; but we may safely presume they must have been women of superior worth—being wives of such a husband, and mothers of such children. Daniel was born, lived and died on the original homestead of his grandfather, which is now possessed by his son Job Ballou. He died there July 6, 1839, at 58 yrs. 8 mos. and 24 days. Mrs. Mercy his wife. died Nov. 26, 1859, at 70 yr. 8 mos. and 20 days. - Find A Grave Memorial 63372439
