 | Annanias Phillips & Delia Ann Kelley | Annanias Phillips &
Delia Ann Kelley were married May 15, 1853 in Greene Co., MO and they had
5 children. There are land patents for Annanias in Greene Co., MO for 80 acres
in 1854 & 40 acres in 1856. The family is on the 1860 census of Ozark Twp.,
Lawrence Co., MO. Annanias enrolled in the Union Army from July 31, 1862 and served
267 days. He was a 1st Sergeant in Company C., 74th Regiment E. M. M. out of Greene
Co., Missouri, and served in the same regiment as his half-brother Green Berry
who was Captain, and his brothers Ebenezer and Amos. He is on the 1861-1863
tax rolls for Lawrence County, on the delinquent tax list in 1866, and the family
is still listed in Ozark Twp on the 1870 census. Annanias died on August 18,
1873 from fumes in a well he was digging - at the time their children were
ages 6 to 19. Delia Ann died in August of 1879 of dysentery. She is listed
on the 1880 Mortality Schedule for Buck Prairie Twp, Aurora, Lawrence Co., MO
as (no name given) Phillips (female) age 43. On the 1880 census their children
Thomas & Pernia are living with their older sister Mary Phillips Hampton &
her husband, and daughters Martha and Millie Jane were both married and listed
with their husbands. All five children are listed as heirs in their grandfather

 | Martha Adaline "Ada" Phillips | Martha Adaline "Ada"
Phillips was born on April 9, 1854 in Miller, Lawrence, Missouri. She is listed
as Martha with her parents at age 6 on the 1860 census and as age 16 on the 1870
census of Ozark Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. Martha Adaline was married 5 times. She
was married first at age 16 to Leroy W. Joseph on Nov. 25, 1870 in Lawrence
Co., MO and they had at least 3 children. According to birth places of their children,
they were in Kansas in 1872, but were in Missouri in 1874 & 1876. Leroy &
"Adaline" are listed on the 1880 census of Lincoln, Jasper Co., MO.
Leroy's occupation at that time was listed as Teacher. Leroy Joseph died or they
divorced, and Ada married Daniel Boyle on January 1, 1887 in Springfield,
Greene, Missouri. On Dec. 9, 1891 she is listed as Adaline Boils of Willow Springs,
(Howell Co.) MO, heir in the estate of her grandfather, Alfred H. Kelley. Dan
& Ada Boyle are listed with Ada's daughter Minnie Joseph on the 1895 state
census of El Dorado, Butler, Kansas. Daniel Boyle died on March 31, 1900 in Chicago,
Cook, Illinois. Ada is listed as widowed on the 1900 census of Mt. Vernon - West
Division, Lawrence Co., MO; at that time she was living in the household of her
married daughter Nettie (Joseph) Bryant, and was listed as having 5 birth with
3 surviving children. Ada married Moses Austin on November 28, 1901 in
Mt. Vernon, Lawrence, Missouri. They divorced sometime before 1904, as Ada married
Francis Marion White on December 15, 1904 in Miller, Lawrence, Missouri.
Francis White died in 1905 and Ada remarried Oscar V. White on Sept. 27,
1905. Oscar was a son of Francis White from his first marriage, so he was Ada's
stepson. At the time of their marriage, Oscar was 31 and Ada was 51. Oscar &
Ada are listed on the 1910 census of Green, Lawrence Co., MO; Ada is listed as
having been married 5 times, with 4 births and 3 surviving children. Oscar &
Ada divorced sometime between 1910 to 1920. Oscar V. White and Ada White are both
listed in separate households on the 1920 & 1930 censuses of Green, Lawrence
Co., MO. In 1920 both are listed as divorced, and in 1930 Oscar is listed as divorced
and Ada is listed as widowed. Martha Adaline "Ada" Phillips Joseph
Austin Boyle White died on June 14, 1934 in Greene, Lawrence Co., MO. Her
death certificate is under the name Ada White, divorced, husband listed as Oscar

 | Mary V. Phillips | Mary Vina Phillips was
born in May 1856 in Missouri. She is listed with her parents as Mary L., age
3 on the 1860 census, and as Mary V., age 13, on the 1870 censuses of Ozark Twp.,
Lawrence Co., MO. Mary married Thomas Hampton about 1878, and they had
at least one daughter named Nellie. Thomas & Mary are listed on the 1880 census
of Lincoln, Lawrence Co., MO with Mary's siblings Thomas & Pernia (last name
of all is listed as Hamton on this census). Mary was listed as "Mary L. Hampton
of Phelps, MO, daughter of Delia Ann Phillips, Dec'd" in her grandfather's
probate papers in 1891. Thomas & "Mollie" are listed on the 1900
census of Green Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. Tom & Mary V. are listed on the 1910
census of Aurora, Lawrence, Missouri. Thomas & Mary V. are listed on the 1920
census of Mt. Pleasant Twp, Butler City, Bates Co., MO. Thomas & Mary V. are
listed on the 1930 census of Blue, Jackson Co., MO. On all censuses from 1880
on Mary's parents are listed as father born TN & mother born MO - this does
not match what I have for birth places of her parents (I have father born IL &
mother born TN). As her siblings are living with her in 1880 I think it is the
right Mary Hampton - I can't explain why the birth places do not match as I feel
I have the correct birthplaces for her parents. Thomas Hampton died in 1937 in
Independence, Jackson, Missouri. Daughter Nellie (Hampton) Shelton gave the information
on his death certificate, and stated that his wife was named Mary V. Hampton.
Mary Vina Phillips Hampton died on December 25, 1947 at the State Hospital
in Fulton, Callaway, Missouri. Her residence on her death certificate is
listed as being in Independence, Jackson, Missouri. Thomas & Mary are both
buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri. |
 | Thomas W. Phillips | Thomas Wesley Phillips was born
in May 1860 in Missouri.. He is listed with his parents on the 1860 &
1870 censuses of Ozark Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. Thomas' father died in 1873 when
he was about age 13, and his mother died in 1879 when he was age 19. Thomas is
listed as Thomas Hamton, age 19, in the household of his married sister Mary Phillips
Hampton on the 1880 census of Lincoln, Lawrence Co., MO. Later that same year,
Thomas married Sarah Jane Moore on Oct. 17, 1880 at her father's home in
Phelps, Lawrence Co., MO. They had 5 children. The family moved from Lawrence
to Taney Co., Missouri sometime between October 1880 and July 8, 1883 when daughter
Ollie was born in Forsyth, Taney, Missouri. In late 1884, Thomas W. Phillips was
one of the founding members of the Taney County League of Law & Order (also
known as The Bald Knobbers.) This group consisted of several lawyers and Civil
War veterans. In December 1885 the Taney County Courthouse burned down. Thomas
W. Phillips was issued a land patent for a cash sale on March 10, 1886, and in
the Spring of 1886 the Bald Knobbers were disbanded. The family returned to Lawrence
County sometime between March 1886 and December 1891. Sarah Jane died in March
1891, and she is buried in Summit Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co., Missouri..
Sarah Jane was 27 years old when she died, and she left Thomas with 5 children,
ages 2 to 10. Thomas was living in Phelps, Lawrence Co., MO in Dec. 1891 when
his grandfather's probate papers were filed. He married Sarah Margaret "Maggie"
Murrell on Dec 25, 1893 in Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co., MO, and they had 6 children.
Thomas & Margaret are on the 1900 & 1910 censuses of Green Twp., Lawrence
Co., MO, living next door to the family of Thomas' sister Pernia Phillips Peebles.
Thomas W. Phillips died on Sept 1, 1912 at the Asylum in Nevada, MO. He
had been judged of unsound mind at a trial before Probate Judge Scott B. Dayton
the week before. After being taken to the Asylum he only lived a few days. Thomas
was 52 when he died. His body was shipped by railroad back to Lawrence Co., MO,
and he was buried in Summit Cemetery. Maggie Phillips filed a paper asking to
forego probate due to the small size of the estate (less than $500). Maggie
remarried Michael Augustine Busch in 1914 in Miller, Lawrence Co., MO, and they

 | Millie Phillips | Millie Jane Phillips was
born in 1863 in Missouri. She is listed with her parents as Millie, age 7,
on the 1870 census of Ozark Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. Millie possibly married
Richard Tidwell about 1879. There is a Richard and Jennie Tidwell listed on
the 1880 census of Collins, St. Clair Co., MO that may be them; Richard is age
25 and Jennie is age 16. Millie Jane married William Tidwell on August
1, 1887 in Taney Co., MO. Millie is listed in her grandfather's probate papers
in 1891 as Jane Tidwell of Tidwell, MO, daughter of Delia Phillips, Dec'd.
Millie Jane Phillips Tidwell died sometime after 1891, and probably before 1900
in Taney Co., MO. William Tidwell is listed on the 1900 census of Bigcreek,
Taney Co., MO with a 19 year old wife named Eliza (no births) and an 11 year old
son named Lafie (Lafayette) who was born in March 1889 and is probably from William's
previous marriage to Millie. |
 | Pernia May Phillips | Pernia May Phillips was born on Sept 30,
1866 in Missouri. She is listed with her parents as Perna, age 3, on the 1870
census of Ozark Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. Pernia's father died in 1873 when she
was about age 6, and her mother died in 1879 when she was about age 12. She is
listed as Perna Hamton, age 13, in the household of her married sister Mary Phillips
Hampton on the 1880 census of Lincoln, Lawrence Co., MO. Pernia married George
Peebles on Nov. 27, 1884 and they had 6 children. Pernia is listed as Perny
Peoples of Phelps, MO on the 1891 probate papers of her grandfather. The family
is on the 1900, 1910 & 1920 censuses of Green Twp., Lawrence Co., MO - Pernia's
name is spelled Pernie in 1900, 1920 & 1930 & Pearnie in 1910. They are
living next door to the family of Pernia's brother Thomas W. Phillips in 1900
& 1910. George Peebles died on November 18, 1922, and on October 15, 1924
their daughter Bessie Peebles Tarter was shot and killed by her divorced husband
Bud Tarter, who then killed himself by poison. Pernie is listed as widowed and
living with her son Cecil Fay Peebles on the 1930 census of Green Twp. Pernia
Phillips Peebles died on January 17, 1935 in Lawrence Co., MO. She is buried
in Webb Cemetery, Lawrence Co., MO under the name Pernia M. Peebles. Thanks to
