Note |
|
I have very poor documentation on the generations of this family from Josiah who married Martha Frisbee to Josiah his father to Noah. The births are there in the Barbour collection, but the connections between generations are mostly from the Ancestral file, which is not necessarily reliable. Although I believe that the children listed do belong to the parents listed, there are so many Josiah Rogers that I am uncomfortable as to proof of whether the 3 generations actually fit together. The only documented sources I have showing all three together are (1) page 66 of "Signers of the Mayflower Compact," which isn't correct, because it relates Noah's father William to the Thomas Rogers who was on the Mayflower. But for the lower down generations it shows William as father of Noah who married Elizabeth Taintor, then that couple as parents of Josiah who married Lydia Goodsell (another error; Lydia's the second wife) and then that couple as parents of Josiah who married Martha Frisbie and had son Medad. The second source for the full family line is Stephens Family Genealogy, which states that Amzi Rogers was "son of Rev. Medad Rogers of New Fairfield, a native of Branford, Conn., grandson of Josiah Rogers, Jr., of Branford, great-grandson of Josiah Rogers, Sen., of Branford, great-great-grandson of Noah Rogers, who came from Huntington, L.I. to Branford, and great-great-grandson of William and Ann Rogers." I am hoping this means that the lineage is common knowledge among members of the family; I just can't find any published documentation.3,8 |
