I Benedict Holtz of Frederic County of State of Maryland, calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body, and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die; Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament viz. To my Beloved Wife Susanna. I Give and Bequeath her Third according to Law, that is to say the third part of my Personal Estate, absolute and the third Part of my Real Estate during her Natural Life. Item to my Beloved wife I Give and Bequeath one Cow, which she pleases and her Bed with all its appurtenances over and above the Legacies and Bequest aforementioned. Item to my Daughter Juliana, in Consideration of her filial Piety, I Give and Bequeath one good Cow and a Good Bed with its appurtenances and one Chest. Item to my Daughter Susannah Wife of Christian Bauzeman, to my Sons John and Michael, and my Daughter Juliana I Give and Bequeath the son of Fifty pounds Current Specie, to each or in case of the death of any of the four Persons last mentioned without issue that then said Bequest shall be Equally Shard among the Survivors of their Heirs and as touching the Remainder of my Estate not Bequeathed, my Will and desire is that it be Equally Shard among my Five Children, viz John, Michael, Juliana, Susanna and Mary Elizabeth, the reason of my Curtailing the Portion of my last-mentioned daughter being in Consideration of the great Experiences of Trouble which have been wrongfully and designedly brought on me by her Husband Frantz Jacob. Item my Will and Desire is that in Case my Son John shall Marry again that then the Estate he inherits by my Means shall then descend after his Death to his two Children by has last Deceased Wife or the Survivor of them. My Will and Desire is however that my Plantation be not Sold or disposed of during the Life of my Beloved Wife, but that she keep entire Possession thereof during her life as aforesaid. My Will is allso that my Daughter Juliana shall have shall have [sic] her free and undisturbed Residence with her Mother on the plantation as long as she lives of Chooses to live with her Mother as aforesaid. Item my Desire is that the part as aforementioned falling to my Daughter Mary Elizabeth wife of Francis Jacob shall be reserved for the use of their Children and not come into the Possession of the parents anything herein before mentioned Notwithstanding. Item My Will and desire is that my beloved Wife Susannah be sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament, which alone I do ratify and Confirm as such, revoking and disannulling all others by me heretofore in any wise made. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this twenty sixth day of December Anno Domini seventeen hundred and Ninety. Benedict Holtz, Seal Signed Sealed Published and declared by the Testator to be his last Will and Testament in our presence who Subscribed the same in his presence and in that of each other.
