Susannah Shaw1
Birth |
Susannah Shaw was born at Halifax, Yorkshire, England.1 |
She is the daughter of Abraham Shaw.1 |
Marriage |
before 1638 |
Susannah Shaw married Nicholas Byram before 1638.1 |
Note |
Susannah may not have existed as a daughter of Abraham. But at the time Abraham wrote his will, about November 1638, Nicholas Byram was his son-in-law. That could have also meant step-son, but Bridgit was listed as a spinster when he married her, so he had to be a real son-in-law. Nicholas Byram's wife was named Susannah, according to his will. So either Abraham had a daughter named Susannah, who was either from a first wife before Bridgit or squeezed in between the date of the wedding to Bridgit and the birth of Joseph, or Nicholas Byram was married to Grace, Abraham's oldest known daughter, and Susannah was his second wife. This latter could not be possible if Grace married William Richards, as is contended by the Weymouth genealogies.1 |
