I cannot prove that this is the Charles from Floyd County, but his age and occupation are a match. Also, George Worley from Franklin County did move from Franklin to Mercer during 1850-1860, although he did not live near Charles.3

Harry Worley
b. circa 1820

Father Samuel Worley b. circa 1790
Mother Mary Worley
Pedigree

Last Edited 23 Nov 2003

Birth circa 1820  Harry Worley was born circa 1820.
He was the son of Samuel Worley and Mary Worley
Marriage 10 September 1846  Harry Worley married Elizabeth Lovell on 10 September 1846 at Floyd County, VA.1
Note   Why I have placed Harry in this Samuel's family: First, I do know that the younger Samuel had 5 sons in the census, and I have accounted for only 3. Of course the other two could have died or left the county. The other reason is that Harry had no other family members signing his marriage papers. All the other young Worleys who got married in Floyd during that time period had their father for a bondsman or consentor and/or witness from their brothers. Harry had no family members to sign for anything, which could be because his father was the younger Samuel, who was living in Roanoke County at that time and was not there to sign for him. If Edmund, Moses and George were his brothers, Edmund was dead and Moses and George were living in Franklin County at the time.

I place his date of birth at about 1820 because this Samuel added one son between the 1820 census and the 1830 census, and that son was 10-15 in 1830, so he would have to be born in 1820.
Census 1850  Harry Worley's wife/widow appeared on the census of 1850 at Floyd County, VA, as follows: In household of Washington Lovel
Elizabeth Whorly 20 or 30, hard to read
Melinda Whorly 2.2
