Funeral services for Bert Lee Hughett, 64, former postal worker in Stillwater who died Thursday, February 13, 1941, in El Paso, Tex., where he had gone for his health, were held at Strode funeral home in Stillwater Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. O. Edgar Wright officiating.
Burial will be in Lanier cemetery, about ten miles northwest of Stillwater.
Bert Lee Hughett was born February 1, 1877 in McPherson county, Kansas, the son of Robert and Martha L. Hughett. He was married February 1, 1897 at Mt. Hope, Kan., to Cora Greene, who survives him.
They lived at Mt. Hope for about a year following their marriage and then came to Payne county to homestead a farm eight miles northwest of Stillwater in Eden township. He had continued to own the farm until his death.
In 1909 Mr. and Mrs. Hughett moved to Stillwater, then to Perry in 1922, and to Sedgwick, Kan. in 1930. He had spent the last two months in El Paso, Tex., because of ill health.
Decedent was a member of Frontier Lodge #48 A.F. and A.M. Stillwater.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Merl Lee Hughett, Arkansas City, Kan.
Four brothers and two sisters also survive. They are W.W. Hughett, Sheridan, Ind.; C.A. Hughett, Spokane, Wash.; H.S. Hughett, San Francisco, Calif.; F.M. Hughett, Tulsa; Mrs. Maud Lay, Eugene, Ore.; and Mrs. Jennie Godsey, Spokane, Wash. There are two granddaughters.
