Hoggatt Rites Set Thursday
John William Hoggatt, 79, Stillwater resident since 1913, died in a Guthrie hospital Tuesday.
Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Strode chapel with Rev. V.A. Doty in charge. Burial will be in Laneer cemetery under the direction of the Strode funeral home.
Hoggatt was born in Fort Scott, Kan. December 13, 1868, the son of Robert and Rebecca Hoggatt. He came to Oklahoma and settled at Ralston where he was a rural mail carrier for three years. He then lived at Pawnee until 1913, where he purchased a farm northwest of Stillwater.
He lived on the farm until 1947 when he moved in to Stillwater to live with his son and daughter.
He was married to Hattie E. Burr in Wichita, October 20, 1913. His wife preceded him in death November 28, 1932. He was a member of the Baptist church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his son Eddie B. Hoggatt, 1116 Husband, and daughter, Mrs. Aurelia J. Thompson, 611 Connell.
Bearers will be Earl Stickle, Reuben Swisher, Edward and Paul Crabtree, Ray Devilbiss, and Clyde Lynch.
