John T. Evans
John T. Evans, 83, died Saturday night, August 17, 1929, in a hospital at Clarksville, Ark., after an illness of a week. He was a former Payne county resident, an early settler southwest of Stillwater. He moved to Clarksville about ten years ago.
The body, accompanied by Mrs. Roy Smaltz, of Cushing, granddaughter of the decedent, was brought to Stillwater, arriving Monday morning.
Funeral services for John T. Evans, were held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, at the Strode Funeral home, 610 Duncan street, with Mrs. Jennie Lile officiating. Burial was in Lanier cemetery, eight miles northwest of Stillwater.
Mr. Evans is survived by his divorced wife, Mrs. Mary Evans, of Stillwater, by four children, Mrs. A.O. Corliss, Cushing; Mel Evans, Stillwater, Clarence Evans, Mayflower, Ark., and Mrs. Henry Combs, Wellston, and by eleven grandchildren.
