I chased down references to Michael and Simon Heany, and no longer believe
they were relatives to Christopher Lambing. Michael appears to have been
an attorney, or some other local official, who also bought a number of properties
for himself. He lived in Tinicum Twp., but did work on properties in Nockamixon
as well.

I then went back through the Grantor Index page by page for the “L’s” – to
see what other name variations, etc. I might find. There was nothing for
the time period you want.
I noticed that there were a few “Longbine’s” in Bucks in 1860. Poss. that “Longbing” became “Longbine” over time?
There are lots of “Lennings” and a few “Lannings.” Then there was a note
in the index that “Lamming” was indexed as “Lanning.” The only “Lamming”
I found there was Alice E. in 1911 – which I describe below. I didn’t see
any “Lenning/Lanning/Lamming” for your time frame. What a mess!
There were some later references to “Lampin’s” in New Britain Twp., and I
think these are related to the Michael Lampin estate that the earlier researcher
referenced. Then there was one of these indexed as “Lamkin or Lampin” – so
maybe sometimes you’re a Lamkin? That was the only “Lamkin” I found –and
again, all of these are much later. Here, then are the miscellaneous later

Foellner, Ernest Alice E. Lamming vir
364/624 May 5, 1911 Nockamixon
This is probably nothing. Ernest Foellner was of Nockamixon. Alice E. Lamming
& Wm. Lamming her husband [so he was the “Lamming”] were of the City
of Philadelphia. Written 4 May 1911. The land in question was 132 acres in
Nockamixon Twp., along Durham Rd. [which is now Rte. 413 I believe]. The
land adjoined a number of others, inclucing property “formerly of Henry S.
Heany.” I just thought it noteworthy that the land was in Nockamixon, adjoining
lands of Heany, and she was a Lamming. But the property was clearly hers,
and Lamming was her married name. She sold it for $1150.00. I tried to trace
it back, to see if it was Lamming land for a long time, but it wasn’t. Isaac
Bigwood and Rebecca his wife conveyed it to Alice 8 Jun 1907. The Bigwoods
were of Frederick Twp., Montgomery Co. They had bought if from James J. Loughery
et ux Oct. 25, 1901. I didn’t keep tracking, because it seemed too much a
long shot. I might have tried, if the property had belonged to her husband,
or if she were a single Lamming.

[Don’t try this at home!]
Books are in poor condition, but continuous from Feb. 1801 – Nov. 1821.
Each volume has an index page in the front of the book by first letter of
the surname – all surnames beginning with “L” listed in that column – not
in alphabetical order.
There is no listing for any Lambing or variant [Longbing, Langbein, Lamming, Lombin, Lambin, Longbine, etc.]
Vol. 8, Sept. Term, 1829
Page 245
The same verbiage described on the worksheet from Coyle & Koelble to
Marcinek 6 Feb. 1990; and re-typed and sent to me by Kathy EXCEPT:
“List of debts:
Nicholas McCarty, balance of purchase money due on the sale of the [one]tenth part of the within estate - $27.00
Dr. Bergstrasse’s estate - $3.00
Dr. Grush physician bill - $4.50
Funeral expenses about $8.00
Jacob Kinter’s debt settled - $14.00
[Known debt] $56.50
Inventory $24.15
$32.35 Balance against estate
Value of land as appraised
$63.00”
[So, at least some part of Nicholas Lambing’s land did not come from his
father – but was instead purchased from Nicholas McCarty Sen’r. It is possible
that McCarty bought all of Christopher’s land??? No deeds exist for Christopher,
and his estate file contains no mention of land.
We now know that Joseph Lambing released his interest in some of Christopher’s
land; and that Michael Lambing disposed of some land in Nockamixon Twp. Both
Joseph and Michael’s lands adjoined lands of James Smith, who was the Justice
of the Peace who recorded the appraisal of Christopher’s estate. Both Joseph’s
land and Nicholas Lambing’s land in Nockamixon Twp. adjoined lands of Trauger.
Since Christopher probably only had 70 acres; and it appears that Nicholas,
Joseph [1819], and Michael [50 acres 1822] all had a piece of it; Nicholas
had to get some of his 70 acres from some other source.
There are NO OTHER DEEDS referencing any other Lambing registered at Bucks Co.]

“Nicholas Lamping Estate, Report No Sale et al order
Nicholas Kohl, Administrator to the Estate of Nicholas Lampkin deceased made
report that at the time and place of sale he exposed the real estate of said

for want of buyer.
He therefore prays the court for an alias order to sell same.
Dec. 15, 1829
The court granted an alias order as prayed for.”
Vol. 8, April 1830
Page 321
“Nicholas Kohl, Administrator of the Estate of Nicholas Lampken deceased
made report that in pursuance of an alias order of sale he did (after giving
due public and timely notice of the time and place of sale) expose the undivided
right and interest of the said deceased in and to a certain lot of about
70 acres of land being 3 shares or parts of and in the same to sale by public
vendue or outcry on the 23rd day of Feb. 1830 and sold the same to Margaret
Lamping at the sum of four dollars and twenty cents per acre she being the
highest and best bidder and this being the highest and best price bidden
for the same which sale he prayed the Court to confirm.”
April 26, 1830 the Court confirmed the sale.
OK, I know we’ve gone round and round about the three tenths of land; and
the above paragraph is not so clear, and was this three tenths of Christopher’s
land; but I really don’t think so.
The estate file of Nicholas Kohl, Nicholas’ administrator [below] makes it a little plainer.
I think Nicholas’ land was divided into 10ths because there were 7 children
and a widow. I’d have to double check the time frame, but I believe the widow
was legally entitled to a third, or 3 x a child, or some such thing; which
could not even be changed by Will & Testament. So, Nicholas’ land was
looked at in tenths.
Nicholas himself, while alive, apparently bought 1/10 of his land from Nicholas
McCarty [Senr] and still owed McCarty for that part when he died – thus the
listing as a debt of N. Lamping’s estate in the Orphans Court document above.
Nicholas had 70 acres – one tenth being 7 acres.
Margaret Lamping bought, or bid and contracted to buy, 21 acres, or 3/10’s
at the Estate Sale held Feb. 1830. At $4.20 an acre – she would have owed
$88.20.
Although Margaret Lambing bid $4.20 an acre for three tenths of Nicholas’
estate, she didn’t finish paying for it for a very long time.
Bucks Co. Estate File
Nicholas Kohl [who was administrator of the estate of Nicholas Lamping]
Filed Feb. 21, 1844
Will was written 31 October 1835
Nicholas wife was Mary. He names his children: Mathilda, Anthony, Mary, Isaac,
Thomas, Samuel, Joseph, Elizabeth, Martha, and Edward.
The executor was his son, Dr. Joseph Kohl.
He filed his report 21 Feb. 1838.
In that report, you see that his father never settled the estate of Nicholas Lambing.
There are several notes in Nicholas Kohl’s estate file regarding the estate of Nicholas Lambing:
1) 21 acres of land was sold to Margareth Lamping at $4 pence20/acre [three tenths of Nicholas Lamping’s 70 acres]
2) Joseph claims a $2.00 expense against the estate of his father for settling the estate of Nicholas Lamping
Dr. Joseph Kohl files his final accounting for his father’s estate in 1847
In that accounting he lists:
3) $19.16 received from Margaret Lamping – presumably the final payment by her.
Bucks Co. Mortgage Vol. 11, Page 178
Mortgagee: Lampen, Michael
Mortgagor: Simon Raesner ux
Written 22 May 1822
Michael Lampen was of Doylestown
Simon’s wife was Barbary, they were of Nockamixon Twp.
Lampen agreed to hold the mortgage and transfer ownership on 50 acres in
Nockamixon Twp., adjoining lands of Wm. Huffman Sr., Wilson, and James Smith.
The final sum was to be $400.00 plus interest. $200.00 was due April 1828.
[There is no deed showing where Michael Lampen got this property. There are
no other mortgages for Lambing or variant in the time frame.]
Bucks Co. Deed Book, Vol. 390, Pg. 3
Nov. 30, 1914
There is a fairly detailed deed showing partition of property of Rachel A.
Lampen nee Vandergrift. Lists her heirs at the time as: G. Harlow Lampen
& Ida his wife; Elsa H. Lampen, widow of Louis P. Lampen; Howard R. Lampen
& Ella his wife; Minnie R. Allen & William Allen her husband; Maud
Muirhead and Joseph Muirhead her husband.
