To all to whom these presents shall come James Purves of Pictou, n the County of Pictou, Merchant, sends greetings.

Whereas George Langill of River John, in the County of Pictou, Miller, by the Indenture hereto annexed bearing date the fourteenth day of November in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty-one between him the said George Langill of the one part and James Purves of the other part, in consideration of sixty-five pounds, did grant and convey in mortgage to the said Purves, his heirs and assigns a tract of land situate at River John aforesaid containing one hundred acres and more particularly described in the said Indenture of Mortgage hereto annexed as a reference thereto and to the registry thereof at Pictou in Liber 38, Folio 31, will full appear.

Now know ye that the said James Purves in consideration of the sum of seventy-six pounds being the full amount due by virtue of said mortgage for said principal sum and interest to him paid by John McKinlay, Esquire, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath remised, released, acquitted and discharged to the said George Langille, his heirs and assigns and doth hereby remise, release acquit and discharge unto the said George Langill, his heirs and assigns the said mortgage, land and premises with the appurtenances described and conveyed in and by the said Indenture of Mortgage together with the said Indenture and all covenant and matters therein contained or referred to, and all monies, principal and interest due or secured thereby, and the said James Purves doth hereby grant, remise, assign and release unto the said George Langill, his heirs and assigns the said mortgaged land. To have and to hold the same to the said George Langill and his heirs and assigns freely and fully exonerated and discharged from all lien, claim, right, title, debt and demand by virtue of said mortgage as of his first and former estate therein.

In witness whereof the said James Purves hath hereunto his hand and seal subscribed and set this twenty-first day of February in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty-five.
